5th Challenge GP Race at Irvine

It was a great night of racing at K1 Speed’s Irvine location for their 5th Challenge GP Race. A lot of new faces were in attendance giving the reverse-layout super track configuration a try. The familiar faces were on the starting grid for the A main after a fast qualifying session. It would be new comer Connor O’Brein would take top honor’s on the podium posting the quickest lap time for the main event with a 43.292 second lap. He would hold off Challenge GP regular Ed Bergenholtz who finished in second place, with his best lap time of 43.338 seconds. Khalifa Alasiri would wind up finishing in third place posting a lap time of 43.407 second to stay ahead of the rest of the pack.
The B Main was a mix of new and regular attendees, which made for an interesting race. Jonathan Wright would take the top spot on the podium avoiding a couple of mid race incidents where some fellow racers had spun out. He was followed by Jay Schaffer, and Jason Bordeaux would round out the top 3 podium positions.
With just one race left at K1 Speeds Irvine location, who will take the overall points championship? The final over all points battle is going to be close, and it won’t be a race to miss.
