The K1 Jr Challenge GP Race league got underway this past week With K1 Speed in Anaheim helping kick off the second half of the season. Qualifying between both groups remained straight forward with both the Junior drivers (under 4’10″) and the Youth drivers (4’10″ and up) taking to the highly technical track like veterans. For the Jr. group Parker Cadacio would take the pole position with a fast lap of 33.692 seconds – and the only driver to break the 33 second barrier. Bryce Raygor would lead the pace early on and take the pole position for the Youth group main event with a 28.871 second lap time, rivaling some adult racers that particpate in lapping session at the Anaheim facility.
The Junior group would kick off the nights main events with Parker leading down into turn one for the start of the race, setting a fast pace early on Parker would pull away with each lap from the rest of the drivers. Many participants in this group were first timers and would have their own separate battles going. Bently Adams who started further back in the field as the start worked up to a 3rd place finish by the time the checkered flag came out. Another first time driver Jimmy Serpa worked his way into a 4th place finishing position giving himself a respectable spot for his first time out.
Rounding out the night would be the Youth driving group with Bryce on pole leading into turn one with Alizae Arbona sticking to his back bumper and putting on quite a battle for spectators. Bryce would eventually find some faster lines and start to put some distance on Alizae and take the win. Lauran Adams worked into third to take the final podium spot behind Alizae. There was a great battle for fourth and fifth as well with Daniel Caro just edging past Kyle Maher to finish 4th and 5th respectfully.
This was a great event for all and really gives the younger racers a chance to compete in indoor kart racing competition.
