K1 Speed in Anaheim,California – the origionators of the Junior Challenge GP race league, kicked off round III earlier this week with a number of returning faces all looking for some close racing action. The young talented racers that come out for this premier event once a month put on quite a show for all involved.
In the Youth league (in the adult karts) Bryce Raygor has become quaite well known in the series and put a stong qualifying lap together, giving him the pole postion with a 28.858 second lap time. In the race he matched this blistering pace but so did his competitors. While there wasn’t much passing, all racers showed great technique and patience in looking for their opportunities. Bryce Raygor took the win with Trevor Buongiorno taking 2nd and Blake Haupt exhibiting a great drive to put him on the podium in 3rd and even further up the points ladder.
The Junior league drivers (in the jr. karts) saw Christian Timple take the pole position with a fast lap of 34.213 single lap pace, which also set the field for the main, and just edging out Tyler Thayer-Pham with a 34.288. Durning the main, there were a number of heated battles but ultimately Christian held onto the win with Tyler attempting a pass on the last turn. The podium was rounded up with Grant Michael moving up a position to 3rd.
With just one race left for the Junior/Teen Challenge GP race league the race for the overall points championship is going to be close between the carious centers. Come out the first week in October and come see what this highly regarding race series is all about
