K1 Speed in North San Diego hosted a number of young drivers this past week in their third round of the Junior League Challenge GP Race series. The popularity of the dedicated Jr. race league, has gained momentum in the past month with more talented young drivers coming out to make a run for a podium appearance. Qualifying would be straight forward with everyone showing their skills early in the heats.
With the fields set drivers would come out on track for their mains with the B-Main group starting first. Drivers were lined up in a Formula 1 style format and given the green flag to drag race each-other into turn one. Everyone would come out unscathed and the race to the checkered flag was on. With some position changes back and forth between the drivers the exciting race would finish out with Dylan Pierce taking the win, followed by Aidan Middleton in second and Gavin Solarez taking third.
A-Main drivers would close out the night with another group of talented young drivers that would take the green flag in another Formula-1 style start. Drivers would battle back and forth for the duration of the race, and when the checkered flag came out it would be David Ireland in the lead followed by Julian Gray, and Michael Lischin to round out the top three.
With the dust settled and the last Junior League Challenge GP Race set for the first week of October, there is still plenty of chances for any capable driver to come out and make a run for the checkered flag with K1 Speed!
