K1 Speed introduces an expanded Challenge GP Junior League schedule for 2011 starting in March. This specialized race program is geared towards junior and teen drivers looking to participate in the Challenge GP race series, but do not meet the necessary requirements to participate in the adult league Challenge GP events .
K1 Speed Anaheim Manager Uli Perez states “This has been a great program here at our Anaheim location and has given our younger racers a chance to compete on an even playing field in the world of indoor electric kart racing. Thanks to our success here, we are able to expand to our other locations that have the junior karts in there fleet, and reach out to more of our fans and customers looking to participate in this series.”
This race program will be offered at our Anaheim, Ontario and Carlsbad locations on the first Tuesday of every month in a 4 month long race series from March to June, and again from July to October. Junior and teen racers will compete against other drivers of their age and various skill levels. The format will include a 14 lap qualifying session and a corresponding 16 lap main event position race for the first 3 races, with a 12 lap practice a 14 lap qualifier and a 16 lap main event for the final championship race. The top 3 drivers will be awarded prizes at the end of each racing event and an overall points winner will be determined after the final championship race.
Cost per driver is $40 per event, sign ups will begin at 7pm in the evening and racing will begin at 730pm. For more information please visit our Junior League page.
