Round 6 of the 2009 Formula Drift race series, popularly known as Formula D, took place at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California on August 21st and 22nd, and K1 Speed-sponsored driver Jeff Jones was there with the K1 Speed / CX Racing drift team! Though the field was large and extremely competitive, with a host of experienced Formula D and D1GP drivers taking part, Jeff Jones and his privateer Nissan drift machine were able to break into the Top 32 and compete head-to-head against the best drift drivers in the country.
Unfortunately, Jeff was pitted against legendary Japanese drifter Katsuhiro Ueo in the first elimination round of the “Locked and Loaded” Top 32 drift event and was edged out, but not before putting up a valiant effort against his more experienced competitor! The K1 Speed / CX Racing drift team did everything that it could to ensure that Jeff had the car he needed to drive to victory, and Jeff was superb behind the wheel, but just couldn’t match the skill on that day of Katsuhiro, who would end going on to battle 2nd place finisher Ken Gushi.
Everyone at K1 Speed would like to congratulate Jeff and the team for a result that they can be proud of and wish them the best of luck for future events! Though a podium finish eluded the team this time around, the guys clearly have shown they have what it takes to compete at the top level of drifting! Stay tuned for more news!
