It was a smooth night of racing at K1 Speed Ontario this past Sunday during the Challenge GP Race. Round three, in the six race series kicked off the night with qualifying, and Jonathan Wright taking the overall pole position with a 53.80 second lap. Tyler Pope held onto the second overall qualifying position with a 54.00 second lap, and Matt Shane took the third qualifying spot with a 54.32 second lap.
B Main race action would start off the main events of the night with Jesse Silva leading the group for the green flag rolling start followed by Justin Daugherty and Derek Donaldson holding onto the third starting position. Jesse would maintain his lead for the entire race going un-challenged to take the win. Justin and Derek were not as lucky, falling back to mid pack and unable to recover. Tyler Deal would work his way up to second place at the drop of the checkered flag followed by Matthew Yoakum to round out the top three on the podium.
The A Main would close out the night with most of the racing action happening right at the drop of the green flag, as Tyler Pope who was qualified in second, timed the start just right and got to the inside of Jonathan Wright who was on pole and never looked back as he took the lead. Tyler would run away from the group and take the top spot on the podium. Jonathan unfortunately dropped back to fourth to finish out the night. Third place qualifier Matt Shane would remain in third place, as he was passed by John Perry who would take second place.
This was a great night, and this marked the half way point for this six race series. The points championship is still up for grabs and anyone could take the top spot by December. Come out and take a chance on our Super-Track layout, with the best in indoor kart racing in the Inland Empire.
