K1 Speed’s Inland Empire location in Ontario, California hosted their 4th round of their Challenge GP race series this past Sunday with a number of returning faces along with a few new ones thrown in the mix to shake things up a bit. Familiar front-runner Robby Stanovich would take the pole position with a 51.806 single lap time to set the pace for the field. The rest of the group would fall in line and after two rounds of qualifying the main was set to close out the night.
The green flag rolling start kept everyone in freight-train style fashion into turn one, with Stanovich putting a slight edge over the field that were hot on his bumper. The field would remain in their qualifying order through-out a majority of the race with Robby out in front. With just a couple of laps left, second place qualifier Bryce Raygor had found his way up to the back bumper of Stanovich and began to put some pressure on him. Robby was able to maintain a defensive line and hold onto the win with Bryce hanging onto second place with Justin Daughtery taking a respectable third place finish for his first appearance in the San Bernardino area K1 GP.
With a quick and straight forward race, drivers are looking to the home-stretch, and the final rounds in the coming months. The points battles and the chase to the championship will come down to the final rounds for many locations. Come out and join in on the action with the K1 Speed Challenge GP Race Series!
