The Inland Empire was busy all weekend with kart racing action at K1 Speed in Ontario, California as the best in indoor kart racing in the San Bernardino area were on hand for round five of the Challenge GP race series. A number of new faces were on hand to take on the Super-Track layout configuration, which made for some great on track battles between the new and veteran drivers. Khalifia Alasiri, who at one point in time was a well known competitor in the So-Cal arena, made an appearance to take on the challenging track layout along with points leader Robby Stanovich. Khalifa put on quite a display of driving skill and bested the field with a fast lap of 51.191 seconds to take the pole position. Stanovich was having an off night having qualified mid-pack in 6th putting himself in a tough starting spot.
With the field set the group went out on track for the main with Khalifia leading into turn one on the green flag rolling start. The field would freight train around the first few turns but was no match for Khalifa’s experience as he was able to pull away within the first to laps to give himself a comfortable lead. Stanovich starting using some of his newly acquired outdoor kart racing skills to move through the field and pick off drivers on each lap to make his way up into second. Jonathon Dimock would work quickly to not allow anyone else around him after Robby found his way around him in the closing laps to hold in third. Khalifa went on to take the win followed by Robby in second and Jonathan would round out the podium to finish out the evening.
