K1 Speed on Ontario, California had its 2nd Enduro last Thursday and its starting to become more popular as more people are hearing that the best indoor kart racing facility in San Bernardino now offers an enduro race program. The 85 lap battle, which requires 5 kart changes in the hour long race, not only has drivers working for position but also creates the need for a bit of pit strategy.
Last week’s race was a non stop battle from the drop of the checkered flag with Evan Sumpter out in front early which gave him a slight advantage before the first round of green flag pit stops began. Once the pit stops began, the lead would change hands 5 different times giving everyone a chance to get out into some clean air and make a run for the checkered flag. Evan would drop back a bit giving up the lead to William Ball. K1 Speed Carlsbad resident driver Julio Rodela made an appearance and used his years of Challenge GP experience to remain on the lead lap for the duration of the race. Once the checkered flag dropped William would be out in front to take the win. Evan was able to hang onto second with Julio sitting just a few kart lengths behind him in 3rd.
