The Junior and Youth Challenge GP race league rolled into the Inland Empire last night to start off the 3rd round of the series for K1 Speed in Ontario California. A number of very competitive drivers were on hand to make a run for a podium position and a shot at the overall points championship. The single qualifying round would place Kasey Gills up front with a 31.72 second lap time which is extremely fast for the young group of drivers.
With the field set the group was set up on grid in true Formula-1 style fashion and given the green flag to run down into the first turn. Kasey would hold onto the lead coming out of turn one and it would be a tight race for the next few laps as the drivers all ran within a few tenths of a second of each other. Kasey would put some distance between himself and the rest of the field as the laps wound down leaving new comer Richard Ramirez and Tucker Turner to mix it up for second and third with Adam Klumpp sitting in fourth waiting to make his move. Tucker would make a small mistake and get sideways on turn 9 letting Richard get underneath him to move up in position and the field would remain in their spots till the checkered flag. Kasey Gills wold go wire to wire for the win, Richard Ramirez would hold in second and Tucker Turner would cap off the top three on the podium.
With just two races left in the Junior League Challenge GP series drivers are all after a podium finish and a shot at the overall championship for the San Bernardino Location. Come join us for the next race on May 1st, and take on the best in indoor kart racing in the Inland Empire with the Junior and Youth League Challenge GP race series.
