K1 Speed’s Inland Empire location hosted their Junior league Challenge GP race last week to a number of local racers from the San Bernardino area. Qualifying was a close battle between a number of drivers with Garrison Calkins coming out on top, grabbing the pole position with a 31.88 second lap. He was followed by Billy Piper who qualified second with a fast lap of 33.22 seconds. Jordan Brown and Ryan Villega would battle back and forth in qualifying as well for starting positions in the main making for some great spectator action.
With the field set Garrison would take the green flag on pole in Formula 1 fashion and lead the racers into the first turn. The group would come out all pointed in the right direction and everyone would find themselves chasing Garrison has he put down laps slowly pulling away from the rest of the field. Billy Piper would have to defend his position against the hard charging Jordan Brown and Ryan Villega. Billy was able to hold him off, and the field would finish in the same positions they qualified in with Garrison taking the win, Billy in Second and Jordan rounding out the top three in third.
With just 2 more rounds left in the Junior league competition the race for the overall points champion is going to come down to the wire and create some great racing action for everyone involved. Come out in September and check out the Junior league Challenge GP race series at the best indoor kart racing facility in San Bernardino with K1 Speed in Ontario California.
