K1 Speed’s Southwest location in Phoenix, Arizona hosted its third round of its Challenge GP race series this past weekend with a full field of drivers all taking aim at a podium finish. Points leader Keaton Swayne was looking to put some distance in the standings between him and the rest of the field, but he would have Logan Swayne to contend with in qualifying who just edged him out to take the pole position. With Logan setting the pace for the rest of the field this was going to be a tight battle between the top three drives in the main.
The green flag rolling start kept drivers driving skills in check as Logan lead going into turn one on the green flag with the rest of the field freight training behind. Logan could only keep Keaton at bay for so long before Keaton found his way past him and never looked back. Once Keaton was out in clean air, he ran away from the field while the rest of the field tried to play catch-up. The checkered flag came out and Keaton would go on to take the win, Logan would hold his position in seconds and Roman Madrigal would round out the top three.
With the half way point int he books, the points battle is starting to spread out a bit. With three races left in the ret of the 2011 race season for K1 Speed in Phoenix Arizona, a number of drivers are all looking to make a run at the podium and take a shot at the overall points chase for the second half of the season.
