The best indoor kart racers in the Southwest can be found at K1 Speed in Phoenix, Arizona with the Challenge GP Race series which held its final round this past Sunday to the top drivers in the points chase all looking for the top spot on the podium. After double qualifying rounds would see Josh Meier take the pole position after laying down a number of fast laps that allowed him to edge out the rest pf the field and set the pace for the main.
With the field set drivers would head out for the rolling start style format which has been a equalizer in many main event starts and with the top three drivers in the field also the top three in the points chase this would be a great battle between the group. Josh would take the field into turn one with Chad Morley and Gunnar Peterson, taking advantage of the open track in front of him Josh immediately would put some distance between himself and second and third place who had their own battle going that were keeping them from staying on Josh’s pace. Chad and Gunnar would swap spots back and forth with a few remaining laps left trying to best one another in different corners. The checkered flag would come out and Josh Meier would take an easy win, Gunner Peterson would grab second and Chad Morley would take third.
The overall points championship would come down to just 6 points separating out the top three with Josh Meier taking the overall win, Gunner Peterson would take second and Chad Morley would round out the top three.
