K1 Speed in Carson, California is the place to race for younger drivers looking to give kart racing a try in Los Angeles. The growing Junior/Teen Challenge GP league which held its second round to the second half of the 2011 series this past Tuesday hosted a number of drivers at the K1 Torrance facility. With two sets of groups splitting the drivers up by height Junior class drivers are 4′-4’10″, and teen drivers fall in the 4’10″ and up category giving everyone a chance to compete with others of the same skill level and age range.
The Junior drivers would see clean driving all evening with Max Barnett taking the overall feature win for this class. He was followed by Chase Calero in second and rounding out the podium was Mathieu Ishida in third. The Teen group of drivers was no acceptation to the clean driving with Henry Morse showing his dominance by taking the class win. Rees Barnett would finish closely in second place and Gavin Shanofsky would round out the top three of the field in third.
The growing popularity of the Jr League is gaining popularity quickly and is a great way to get younger races to experience competitive kart racing. Come out to the next event which is scheduled September 6th and check out the K1 Speed Jr League Challenge GP race series.
