It was a NASCAR race weekend in Southern California this past weekend, as the Nationwide and Sprint Cup series returned to Auto Club Speedway in Fontana California for the running of the Nationwide CampingWorld.com 300 Saturday, and the Sprint Cup Pepsi Max 400 Sunday. Before drivers took to qualifying Friday on the famed 2 mile “D” shaped oval, a number of them found their way to K1 Speed in Ontario California, located just 20 minutes west of California Speedway. Kart racing is were many drivers first start their careers at a young age, and professionals use kart racing throughout their careers as a way to keep their reactions and skills sharp and get that added edge over the competition. Nationwide Series drivers Justin Allgaier driver of the #12 Verizon Dodge Charger, and James Buescher driver of the #11 Toyota Camry Nationwide car, along with Sprint Cup Series drivers Paul Menard driver of the #98 Menard Ford Fusion, and David Ragan driver of the #6 UPS Ford Fusion, took time out of their busy schedules and visited our Inland Empire location looking to lay down a fast lap or two before the weekends festivities.
James Buescher would set the quickest lap time with a 28.272 second lap time. Justin Allgaier would follow closely with a 28.693 second lap time. David Ragan set his best lap time of 29.073 seconds and Paul Menard posted a 29.237 second lap time for his personal best of the day. Not allowing himself to be outdone, Justin returned back to K1 after qualifying Friday, and set a 27.75 second lap time just 3 tenths of a second from the lap record.
Drivers of all levels are welcome to come out and experience K1′s indoor electric racing karts, and the high speed fun at any of our 6 locations. Come out to K1 Speed in Ontario, and see if you can beat the lap times of James, Justin, Paul or David on our technical asphalt layouts as our Inland Empire location has 2 different courses to choose from for your racing enjoyment.
