K1 Speed’s newest location in Phoenix, Arizona was recently visited by a number of celebrities, all taking a quick break from their day-to-day lives to try out the best in indoor kart racing in the Southwest. World Series Pitcher Colby Lewis of the Texas Rangers and his friend Burt Frisselle of the Grand-Am Rolex Series Daytona Prototype team Frisselle Racing were joined by dirt track drivers Zack Forster and Sean Minor who all came in for some grudge match racing against each other. Each driver brought a unique talent to the etched concrete-surfaced track and after 4 races Burt was able to break the single lap track record by posting a 28.30 second fastest lap, edging out the previous track record by 4 hundredths of a second. Showing an impressive display of driving, it really showcased Burt’s abilities to be able to get into an unfamiliar kart at an unfamiliar track and beat the track record on his first visit to the facility.
With a great time had by all, they vowed to return for a rematch to see who could better the others next time. K1 Speed would like to wish Colby good luck has he returns to spring training this week along with Burt, Zack, and Sean for their 2011 race seasons.
