2009 K1 Speed Junior Kart League Champions -- 1st Patrick Landeros | 2nd Brandon Kim | 3rd Hunter Kim
The last round of our 2009
Junior League was held this weekend at
K1 Speed Anaheim and it was a great event! The children had a fantastic time and were pleasantly surprised when we ran the track in the opposite direction, as it created an exciting new challenge. With the new layout, Brandon Kim was able to beat the competition and take the race win, ahead of Hunter Kim and Patrick Landeros. The great drive by Brandon tied him in points with Patrick Landeros, but over the course of the season, Patrick had more overall wins so ended up being crowned Series Champion in a closely contested battle! We would like to thank all of the kids and their families who participated in our 2009 Junior League at K1 Speed Anaheim and we look forward to seeing them develop their skills!

Billy Johnson and the FX Motorsports Development / Cricket Wireless Acura NSX racecar
Billy Johnson is an accomplished racecar driver who has competed in a variety of classes, including the Grand Am Rolex series, Grand Am Koni Challenge, SPEED World Challenge, Formula Star Mazda Pro and Formula BMW open wheel series. He is perhaps best known though as the driver of the FX Motorsports Development / Yokohama / Cricket Wireless Acura NSX racecar in the popular Redline Time Attack series. In 2009, Billy dominated the Redline Time Attack series, taking the overall win in 5 of the 8 races and securing the Unlimited Class RWD (rear wheel drive) championship. At the young age of 23, Billy has already made a name for himself in the industry and we expect to see him further develop his skills and his career in the future!

This week, Billy was finally able to take a break from his busy schedule (he recently competed in the last round of the Redline Time Attack at Auto Club Speedway and will be heading up to Northern California for the 25 Hours of Thunderhill this weekend) and decided to visit our
K1 Speed Anaheim indoor karting center in Orange County, California for a bit of fun! Our Anaheim track features both slow speed technical corners and a long back straightaway with a high speed braking zone, and can be tricky to master for even veteran K1 racers, but Billy quickly went to work dissecting the course! On his second run of the day, Billy ran a 29.71 second lap time, which was good enough for a spot at the top of our
Top Times of the Week leaderboard! Everyone at K1 Speed was impressed with Billy’s skills behind the wheel and his ability to quickly adapt to our
electric karts; being able to run one of the fastest times of the week in only his second time in the kart is a good illustration of his natural racing abilities.
It was a pleasure having Billy Johnson stop by our indoor go kart track and we hope to see him again soon! Some of the top drivers from Formula Drift visit our K1 Speed Anaheim indoor karting center.
On Wednesday, October 14th, several of the top drivers from the Formula Drift race series – including 2009 Formula D champion Chris Forsberg and Irwindale pole sitter Justin Pawlak – paid a visit to our
K1 Speed Anaheim indoor karting center in Orange County, California to celebrate the final round of the season at nearby Irwindale Speedway. Not surprisingly, the guys put on a fantastic show; we can say with confidence that the attendees that night witnessed some of the very best drifting that has ever taken place at K1 Speed! Our high performance
electric karts have tremendous grip on our asphalt tracks and are not typically seen hitting apexes sideways, but the Formula D drivers made it look easy!

It was a pleasure watching some of the very best drivers from Formula Drift, including Tyler McQuarrie, Vaughn Gittin Jr., Chris Forsberg, Justin Pawlak, Daijiro Yoshihara, Joon Maeng, Darren McNamara, Kyle Mohan, Kenji Yamanaka, and Dean Kearney, race head-to-head around our indoor go kart track and we would like to thank the entire Formula Drift organization for a fantastic event! We look forward to working with Formula D and the top drifters in the country again soon.
Not suprisingly, the Formula D drivers were quickly drifting our high performance electric karts!

We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting special race dates at our K1 Speed Anaheim and K1 Speed Ontario indoor karting centers to meet our customers’ demands! We are constantly looking for new ways to offer our customers a unique and memorable experience at K1 Speed, and we believe that providing an opportunity to enjoy our indoor go kart tracks in a whole new light is one such way to meet this goal. Whether you’re a regular competitor at K1 Speed or are a novice who would like to experience the thrill of wheel-to-wheel racing, we think that you’ll appreciate our special race dates in Orange County and the Inland Empire.
In Ontario, we are opening up our exclusive Super Track to the general public for the very first time! Our half-mile long Super Tracks, which are a combination of Track 1 and Track 2 at our two-track locations in Irvine and Ontario, have been used for our Challenge GP go kart league and private events in the past, but many of our customers have expressed a desire to try out the Super Track for an “Arrive and Drive” race. After much deliberation, we decided to open the Super Track every Monday at our K1 Speed Ontario indoor karting center. Inland Empire and Southern California residents can take advantage of “Super Track Mondays” and race on one of the longest indoor go kart tracks in the entire country for the standard race price!

For residents in the Orange County and Los Angeles areas, we are offering “Reverse Wednesdays” at our K1 Speed Anaheim indoor kart racing center. Every Wednesday, we will be operating our state-of-the-art Anaheim indoor go kart track – which features two tunnels, dynamic lighting and a combination of tight corners and high-speed straights – in the opposite direction so that racers can enjoy an entirely new and unique experience. If you have never raced on one of our tracks in the reverse direction, we can assure you that it is like driving on a whole new track! Every corner must be re-learned and the braking points are completely different, making the task of setting consistently fast laps a real challenge, even for veteran racers.

On Wednesday, October 14th, K1 Speed will host an event with some of the top drivers from the Formula Drift race series to celebrate the final round of the 2009 season at Irwindale Speedway! Taking place at K1 Speed Anaheim between 6-11PM, the event will be open to the public and feature a “meet and greet” autograph session, kart racing with Formula D drivers and representatives from the media, and a prize giveaway from K&N Filters for the top lap time of the evening set by a customer.
Visit K1 Speed Anaheim on Wed. October 14th to meet some of the very best Formula Drift drivers in person!
We are looking forward to the event and expect that the racing will be superb, as some of the top Formula D drivers will be swapping out their drift cars for our high-performance

We are pleased to announce that the Kogi BBQ truck – famous for Korean-fusion delicacies such as Korean short rib tacos, spicy pork and chicken tacos, tofu tacos and Spam-tofu musubi meatloaf – will be making stops at our K1 Speed Irvine and K1 Speed Anaheim indoor karting centers! The Kogi BBQ truck has a devout following and unbelievable reputation having made a name for itself on the pages of Twitter with live tweets and on the streets of LA with awesomely delicious food, so it may be best to show up early if you want to be at the front of the line! We expect that the response will be tremendous, and we look forward to seeing the crowds come out for good food and awesome racing!

We’ve listened to our fans’ requests and demands for a new reverse race in Anaheim and are happy to announce the very first Reverse GP on the current layout of our K1 Speed Anaheim indoor go kart track! Unlike previous Reverse GP races though, in which competitors drove in only one direction during the practice and qualifying sessions, this time racers will have to qualify going both clockwise and counter-clockwise! The average time of both runs will then determine the starting position for the final race. Drivers will have to quickly adapt to the nuances and idiosyncrasies of both layouts in order to consistently run fast, and it should result in some exciting qualifying sessions.
K1 Speed Anaheim indoor go kart track - premier indoor karting in Orange County
The race format for the event will include an 8 lap practice session in reverse (counter clockwise), a 10 lap qualifying session in the standard clockwise configuration followed by a 10 lap qualifying session in the counter clockwise configuration, and a 14 lap final race for position running counter clockwise. Needless to say, the reverse layout should result in some interesting racing, as the standing start dash into the first left-hand hairpin turn is going to be exciting! The entry fee for this unique and exciting event is only $50 and we believe is a great value. If you want to experience wheel-to-wheel racing at K1 Speed Anaheim and view the track in a whole new light, make sure to visit Thursday, October 1st! The first karts will hit the track at 7:00PM so show up early to register!

We recently had the pleasure of teaming up with the Make-A-Wish foundation to provide two families the opportunity to spend some valuable time with each other and experience the thrill and joy of indoor karting. One of the goals of K1 Speed is to allow everyone the opportunity to feel the excitement of wheel-to-wheel racing in a safe and comfortable environment, so it was our pleasure to help the Make-A-Wish foundation fulfill the wishes of two deserving families. We are glad to hear that everyone involved had a fantastic time and thoroughly enjoyed themselves!

If you would like to race on our new Anaheim track configuration in the opposite direction, visit our K1 Speed Anaheimindoor karting center on Wednesday evenings for a fun and unique challenge! If you are a regular visitor to our Anaheim location, tackling the course in the opposite direction is a demanding challenge that requires concentration and a fresh approach to the track, as the flow of the track, racing lines and braking points are all different! If you’ve never been to our Anaheim track, we can assure you that running our track in the opposite direction, counter-clockwise, is just as fun as running in the standard direction, and it will provide you with unique insight when you visit for a second time and race on the standard configuration.
