K1 Speed Ontario Challenge GP Results

There were a lot of new faces that came out for the Challenge GP this month in Ontario and were looking to make a name for their selves. KC Cook was solid during qualifying and landed himself on pole position with a 47.795 second lap. Since there were only 16 racers, they all decided they wanted combine the 2 finals and run just one main. KC Cook got a great start coming to the green but within a couple laps, Chris Singleton was able to close in on his back bumper. They were both turning around the same lap times so it was very difficult for Chris to get any advantage to pass KC. KC was able to secure the top spot for the final laps and take the victory in the second race of the Ontario Challenge GP. Chris Singleton was second, followed by Evan Sumpter in third, Bob Hyman in forth, and Marcin Balazy in fifth.
K1 Speed Austin Challenge GP Results
The A Main Event was FAST! Great racing from top to bottom with everyone hitting a 27 second fastes lap time. Track record holder Ignacio Martinez beat the field and showed why he is Austin’s track record holder. In his second qualifier he put up a 27.397 to earn the pole position and earn bonus points in the standings. Timmy Palmer battled from several spots back to take 2nd while Chris Splendoria turned in another great performance to finish 3rd and move into 2nd in the overall points standings for the season. Season Points leader Donald Munroe finished 4th.
The B Main had a lot of good racing from the start to the finish. Newcomer to the GP Challenge Jason Young held off Matt Hammock and a charging Phil Hammel to win and receive 36 points in the overall standings.
The C Main was full of excittement and everyone was wondering how these guys didn’t put up faster qualifier times after watching this one. The top 3 finishers were Brian Gilbert, Dale Daugherty and Chase Williamson. GP # 2 was bigger and faster than the last. We expect the momentum to keep on going. Look for next months GP to be run in reverse direction on the the track!! See you all then!
K1 Speed Seattle Challenge GP Results – Aug. 5, 2012
Sea Fair Sunday welcomed the racers back to K1 Speed Seattle for the 2nd round of the 2012 Challenge GP series. Many of the heavy hitters still showed to do battle, and it sure was a good one. This time around it was RJ Napitupulu who was able to secure the number one qualifying position with a time of 16.921, just besting the likes of Dana “The Dude” Glenn and Hans Malzar who had times of 17.031 and 17.1, respectively in their qualifiers and snagging the 2 bonus points awarded for number one qualifier. As the drivers took the green flag and headed for turn one, it was RJ Napitupulu with the lead followed closely by Glenn, Malzar, Brandan Hammock, 14 year old Jordan Walker and Keith Witt. Glenn immediately began searching for a way around Napitupulu, and as they entered turn two it was RJ to the inside and “The Dude” running the outside lane, allowing Malzar to close in to both drivers’ rear bumper and nearly make a pass on Glenn. RJ Napitupulu managed to stay in control of the lead through the remainder of the infield and on to the back stretch, but Glenn would sneak to the inside coming in to the final turn and made a pass but in the process slide wide and RJ retaliated immediately and the two drivers again went two wide in to turn one, allowing Malzar to close in and join the battle for the top spot with the talented Brandan Hammock in tow. This same 2 wide 3 kart battle for the lead would continue for the next 6 laps.
Meanwhile, Keith Witt and young Jordan Walker who was making his first appearance this season were locked in fearce battle for the number 5 spot, with Walker eventually able to find his groove and distance himself slightly over Witt and gain a bit of ground on Hammock. At the halfway point, Dana was able to make his last pass on Napitupulu, but the battle was not over. RJ would make several runs up the inside of Glenn, nearly passing him several times, but just wasnt quite able to squeeze by. Malzar meanwhile was sitting comfortably in 3rd, a mere 2 kart lengths behind RJ. The two drivers battled until the checkered flag with Dana “The Dude” Glenn taking his second win of the season by only 1.2 seconds over RJ Napitupulu in 2nd. Hans Malzar would bring home 3rd place and gain valuable points and move up in the standings. Jordan Walker would cross the line 4th, well earned after a mid race bobble would send him back to 6th and having to race his way back up. Brandan “Chili” Hammock finished 5th, Keith Witt 6th. Both Keith and Brandan are showing huge improvements on lap times over the previous rounds, and will soon be in contention as well. The points gap however, remains the same for the top two spots with just 4 points seperating Glenn and Napitupulu. Big movers on the day however points wise were Malzar and Hammock who moved up three places each in the standings.
K1 Speed Irvine Challenge GP Results – Aug. 5, 2012
A-Main: The winner for 1st place podium goes to Spencer Mayeda. Spencer beat out 45 competitive racers to take top honor in todays GP2 Season Premier, Super Track Event. With Spencer taking a commanding lead for 1st place, the real race was between 2nd, 3rd, and 4h place racers. With the rest of the race group scattered amongst each other. Overall, the racers ran a clean race with very few incidences of bumping or slamming into walls.
B-Main: This was an entertaining race to watch, and tonights audience clearly enjoyed watching the racers compete. Our track staff did a good job in notify drivers that were violating our no-bumping rule, but driver, Olivia Ma, clearly must of had a brief laps in following our rules when she almost took out half of the racers going into Schumacher corner. No incidences of injury came of Olivia’s mistake in judgement.
C-Main: this was another fun filled race that made us cheer. Drivers Steve Butscher, Rishabh Shuklla, and Ryan Husband faught it our for a 1,2,3 podium finish. These 3 drivers were not making it easy to move in positions. With there tactical driving and constant focus, lead all three to the podium finish line.
D-Main: Matt Carpenter lead the race from start to finish. It seemed that the group would challenge each other towards the beginning of the race, but as the race moved on, all drivers had a 1 or 2 car length gap between each other. Still an all around clean and fun race, but not much position changes.

K1 Speed Phoenix Challenge GP Results
The top qualifier in K1 Speed Phoenix Challenge GP event was Alec Faubion with a 24.715, followed up by Sean Grimes and Hector Montero. All 3 of these racers were first time GP racers here in PHX. In the final event Alec jumped out to a big lead after taking the pole. In lap 2 Cole Loftsgard jumped from 4th position, into 3rd and Hector took over the 2 spot. In turn 1 of lap 7, Cole took the inside on Hector and moved into 2nd position but was having trouble in some lap traffic closing the gap on Alec the leader. With 3 laps to go, Alec started feeling some of the affects of the lap traffic and Cole closed the gap to less than a car length. Heading into turn 3 with less than 2 laps to go, Gary Every blew a tire which caused Alec to catch him in turn 4 and force him outside. Cole chose the inside of Gary and chose wisely. Cole jumped into first position heading into the final turn with 1 lap to go. Cole ended up holding Alec off and it finished Cole Loftsgard, Alec Faubion, and Hector Montero in that order.
