K1 Speed, the largest operator of public indoor karting centers in the country, is opening its newest location in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, near Arlington.
Irvine, CA February 27, 2014 – The newest karting track in Arlington (located roughly equidistance between Dallas and Forth Worth) is not your ordinary go-kart track. Perhaps most strikingly, it’s located entirely inside, allowing for racing rain or shine, hot or cold. It also features a professionally-designed course layout and high-performance electric karts. Needless to say, though everything may appear similar on a superficial level, the track represents a new approach to go-karting. Take everything that you think you know about go-kart racing and throw it out the window because K1 Speed is committed to changing your perception.
Indoor Go-kart Racing – The K1 Speed Way
Since its founding in 2003, K1 Speed has revolutionized what individuals expect out of a go-karting experience. Gone are the anemic, heavy, slow-witted gas-powered karts of your youth; in their place are high-performance, zero-emission, environmentally friendly electric karts that are cleaner, quieter, and perhaps most importantly, faster. The poorly maintained tracks and outdoor seating areas have been replaced with spacious lounges, leather couches, plasma screen televisions, snack bars, and museum-quality collections of authentic racing memorabilia. The very traits that K1 Speed has built its reputation on, and that have allowed it to grow into the largest karting company in the country – all-electric go-karts, professionally designed race tracks, year-round racing, and an unparalleled attention to detail – are all present in the company’s newest location, K1 Speed Dallas.
Residents of Dallas, Forth Worth, and Arlington can visit K1 Speed seven days a week and experience the thrill of indoor go-kart racing for themselves, no reservations required. With the latest state-of-the-art, all-electric karts (designed and built in Europe), K1 Speed is able to satisfy the demands and needs of even the most ardent driving enthusiasts. The company promises an adrenaline-pumping experience that is second to none; yet, due to their tractable nature, the company’s electric karts are easy to drive and suitable for racers of all skill levels and experience. Racers who want to experience the thrill of wheel-to-wheel racing need only show up – K1 Speed handles the rest!
Catering to Racers’ Every Need – Planning Private Parties and More
In addition to offering public races in the form of their Arrive & Drive racing option, K1 Speed Dallas can also accommodate private events. The company has a number of private racing packages that are designed for groups of 8 or more people, making them perfect for birthday parties, bachelor and bachelorette parties, team building exercises, company functions, and more. And to ensure that large groups are properly provided for, K1 Speed Dallas also has a number of private room rentals available, as well as catering options. There is an option designed to meet every need, all of which are centered around the company’s most unique and lasting product: high-performance indoor go-kart racing.
K1 Speed Dallas is conveniently located in Arlington, roughly equal distance from Fort Worth and Dallas, and is situated across from Six Flags Over Texas. Residents of Arlington, West Prairie, Dallas, Forth Worth and surrounding communities can contact K1 Speed Dallas with any questions. Individuals looking to experience indoor karting are also encouraged to show up for an Arrive & Drive race at any time.

K1 ambassador, Bucky Lasek picks five speed demons to go on a ride they’ll never forget, in one unforgettable car.
Back in October word spread that DoubleURXXX Productions and Bucky Lasek were looking for videos from Subaru STI and WRX owners. Entries had to prove they had the driving chops to impress Bucky and his team. Even given the short notice, the number of videos submitted through the official vingotmein.com site was huge. And it wasn’t just Mickey Mouse stuff; some of you guys can seriously drive.
I heard it was quite an undertaking, but Bucky whittled it down to his four favorite entries, plus a fifth finalist was selected by the other participants. Without any idea what was in store for them, DoubleURXXX Productions flew the guinea pigs to an undisclosed location for what would be the experience of a lifetime.
But the story doesn’t end there. You can come along for the ride in this new video called “The Chosen Ones.” Bucky Lasek, Masuo Takatsu (the godfather of the WRX), the 2015 Subaru WRX, several sets of tires, a horse head and the five guys that earned their golden tickets. But beware, you’re going to be seriously jealous when you see how it went down.

California, Colorado and Florida will join more than 30 countries in the largest simultaneous running event ever staged as part of the ‘Wings for Life World Run’ to find a cure for spinal cord injury.
SANTA MONICA, Calif., November 5, 2013 – Along with more than 30 countries on six continents, the USA will host three simultaneous races as part of the ‘Wings for Life World Run’ on May 4, 2014. Runners around the globe will participate together in support of bringing awareness to spinal cord injury and to fund research for finding a cure.
Unlike any other race ever, this global event has no fixed distance or finish line and every runner around the world, from part-time joggers to top professional runners, will start at the exact same time.
Thousands of runners will set off on May 4, 2014 at 10 AM UTC (6 AM ET/3 AM PT) along routes in varying daylight and weather conditions. While it will be early morning in the three USA locations – Santa Clarita, Calif.; Sunrise, Fla.; and Denver, Col. – competitors in Germany will set off at midday while those in Taiwan will start at 6 PM local time.
Never has the sporting world seen a race format like this.
With no set distance or finish line, participants are pursued by a moving finish line known as the ‘catcher car.’ Thirty minutes following the start of the race, all catcher cars globally will begin advancing through the racecourse at the same pace. A participant’s race ends once the catcher car overtakes the individual runner. Results will be based on distance rather than time. The male and female runners in each race who cover the most distance before being overtaken by the catcher car will be crowned as local champions of the Wings for Life World Run. The final male and female runners across all runs will be the global champions. This will be the inaugural race with plans to host future runs around the world to find a cure for spinal cord injury.
Among those taking part will be ski racing champion Lindsey Vonn, windsurfing icon Robby Naish, ex-Formula One driver David Coulthard, world class ultrarunner Karl Meltzer, and many other sporting heroes who have all volunteered as event ambassadors.
“I’m inspired by the Wings for Life World Run and what they are trying to accomplish, which is finding a cure for spinal cord injuries,” said Vonn. “This is an opportunity for everyone to be part of a global race – and run for those who can’t.”
It is estimated that 3,000,000 people worldwide are living with a spinal cord injury. Every year 130,000 more sustain a spinal cord injury, followed by paralysis – the main cause being traffic accidents. The advances in research are largely based on private initiatives. Being a non-profit organization based in Austria, the Wings for Life Foundation relies on support and donations to help fund this research. Wings for Life is set up to ensure that a guaranteed 100% of all donations it receives are used exclusively for promising research projects. The mission is clear: to find a cure for spinal cord injury.
The United States will host three races in the following locations:
Denver, Col. – Often referred to as the fittest city in the USA, it will host some of America’s best endurance athletes as they compete in the first-ever global head-to-head run. Denver’s athletes are not only challenged with mile high elevation, they will also be beginning their race at 4 AM Mountain Time. The Denver race will begin in the heart of downtown Denver. Runners will then head east out of the city center.
Sunrise, Fla. – This run will take place among palm tree-lined streets in the scenic South Florida community of Sunrise. Runners can expect moderate temperatures and flat terrain leading through
suburban landscapes. The Sunrise race will begin at 6 AM Eastern Time at the BB&T Center and wind through the beautiful cities of Sunrise and Weston before making a northwesterly turn along U.S. 27, which leads runners northwest into the Florida Everglades.
Santa Clarita, Calif. – The third largest city in Los Angeles County, Santa Clarita is the only west coast city in the U.S. participating in this global event. Santa Clarita is known for its outdoor lifestyle amenities including more than 70 miles of trails and ample open space, which provides a picturesque course for competitors. At 3 AM Pacific Time, the Santa Clarita race will begin on Magic Mountain Parkway near the roller coaster capital of the world.
Registration is Open
Those wanting to take part on May 4, 2014 have until midnight (UTC) on Sunday, April 20, 2014 to register for one of the runs via www.wingsforlifeworldrun.com. However, participation per race is limited so interested entrants will want to register soon.
As the official global producer of the Wings for Life World Run, Red Bull ensures all money collected by the runs and via the European Merchant Services (EMS) payment systems will go to the Wings for Life foundation.
