Starting out the second season in 2012 at the K1Speeds Ontario Junior event, we would like to thank Revin Easley, Talin Easley, CY Turner, Tucker Turner, Zayne Turner, Lola Fitzgerald, and Sydney Becker for their participation as we begin a fresh season. Right at the green flag these racers showed their excitement for the sport as the qualifying race produced some very competitive times. Five of the seven racers qualified within a second and a half from each other. Setting the time to beat, Revin qualified first at an impressive 28.924. Following right behind, at a 29.624 CY Turner qualified second. At third, Talin with a 30.064. Tucker grabbed the fourth qualifying spot at 30.505, just one hundredth of a second ahead of Zayne pulling fifth with a 30.516. Lola attained the sixth spot running a 34.15, and Sydney qualified seventh with a 38.405

With the qualifying positions locked in and the racers eager to begin the final race, our July Jr League final is off at the drop of the green flag. Tightly packed, each racer sticks to their race line defending their positions with each turn. Jumping at the first opportunity, Talin passes CY in the 3rd lap as he takes the back turning sequence a little too aggressively leaving space inside. Though the rest of the race presented no position changes, there was a lot of battling in the middle of the pack! For the remainder of the race, Tucker pursued Cy with exceptional determination. Bumper to bumper, Tucker did everything he could to pass Cy, yet Cy kept incredible focus on the track ahead as well as Tucker just inches behind. Finishing on cruse control, Revin Easley took First place for Ontario’s July Grand Prix. Second place Talin, Third CY, Fourth Tucker, fifth Zayne, Sixth Lola, and Seventh Sydney. Thanks to all of our enthusiastic participation and safe driving, the second half of the K1 Ontario 2012 Junior League started out excitingly also with a lot of competition anticipated in the events to come.

There was a packed house Sunday night for K1 Speed Ontario’s opening round of the Supertrack Challenge GP. All the drivers were very anxious to get on the track to start the season off and also ready to tackle the brand new track layout! We had a total of 25 drivers competing for the top spot Sunday night, with Logan Manus showing his presence early with a blistering qualifying lap of 47.813 seconds, taking the pole by 4 tenths of a second over Robert Hernandez. Everyone was very close in qualifying, only 3 seconds separating the entire field.
Eric Ross started on pole for the B Main, an experienced K1 racer but brand new to the Ontario facility. He brought them down to the green flag and was able to get some space in between him and second place off the start. But before long, Bob Hyman started to chip away at the lead and made a great pass to take the top spot. Bob never looked back and started building a lead from then on. He was able to take the checkered flag in first place, with Wesley Thu getting second place, as he was able to get by Eric Ross with a couple laps remaining. Eric Ross was able to hang on to third place to keep his spot on the podium.
With all the veterans in the A Main, the tension was really high as the racers began to get ready for their race. Anyone of these drivers were capable of winning this race and they all knew that. The pole sitter, Logan Manus, was looking a little nervous before the race, as it was his first time on pole position in the A Main. As the field turned the last corner on their parade lap for the start of the race, Logan brought them down very slowly to start the race and was able to keep the lead going into turn one as the green flag dropped. He was closely followed by Robert Hernandez, as he was ready to give Logan a fight for the lead. The front two karts were able to pull from the field by a couple seconds, while the rest of the field battled to get to the front. John Tanaka, who started in third, was able to start chipping at the front two but just ran out of time to catch them. Logan was able to hold off hard charging Robert Hernandez as the checkered flag waived in the air. This was Logan’s first A Main victory! Robert Hernandez finished second, John Tanaka in third, Paul Ciralli in forth, and KC Cook rounded out the top 5.
This season is looking like its going to be a very competitive season, with a lot of guys itching to get the top of the podium. Come check out next months Supertrack Challenge GP in Ontario on August 12th!
