IMG 3697 K1 Speed Ontario Challenge GP Results for Season 1

The Inland Empire indoor karting scene is one of the most popular regions in Southern California, with K1 Speed in Ontario, California holding the final round of the Challenge GP Race series this past Sunday to a packed house full of drivers all after a podium finish. Qualifying would see points leader Chris Singleton take the pole position for the nights A-Main with a 50.910 second lap time on the reverse-ran super-track configuration.

Starting off the night the B-Main drivers would see Adam Hixon on pole to lead the field into turn one on the green flag rolling start. He would hold on to the lead for the first couple of laps but would lose the spot to Michael Dozier who moved up from his third place starting position. Adam wasn’t going to give up the position easily and both drivers got together in a hairpin corner which dropped them back a few positions other drivers in the field got by. Nolan Wolack would take over the lead and build up a comfortable gap between himself and the rest of the field. With the checkered flag out Nolan Wolack would take the win Garry Dowse would take second and Naji Muwanas would cap off the top three in the main.

Closing out the night was the A-Main field with Chris Singleton leading the field into turn one on the rolling start. Chris would hold the field back until he saw green and would maintain his lead through the first turn in the tightly packed group of drivers. Bob Hyman would stay right on the back bumper of Chris’s kart for the entire first lap as if they two karts were joined together. Meanwhile Paul Ciralli was making his way though the field coming from from his fifth place starting position and making his way into third by the end of the first lap. By the end of lap two he was challenging Chris for the lead, getting to the inside of Chris just enough through a corner to put a nose on him and attempt a pass. Chris wasn’t able to hold the outside line and Paul would get around to take over the lead from Chris. Paul would put some distance between himself and the rest of the field and go on to take the win, followed by Bob Hyman in second and Travis Yates would take third.

The overall championship points would come down to this final race with Chris Singleton taking the overall win, with Travis Yates taking second overall and Patty Kuykendall taking third. Congratulations to our overall winners for the first half of the 2012 race season. Drivers will have just about about a month before the start of the second half of the season, with an all new track configuration in the works, giving drivers a new challenging race course to compete on. Keep an eye out for the updated schedule due to be posted int eh coming weeks.
