florida K1 Speed South Florida Challenge GP Results

South Florida is the home to a number of very talented kart drivers, and with K1 Speed hosting the Challenge GP race series, there is no exception to that statement. Round four came last week for the Hollywood Florida location with many talented drivers making a run for the podium and for the overall points championship. With double qualifying rounds, drivers are given a number of chances to post a fast lap for the top qualifying position.

Once qualifying was in the books drivers rolled out on track for the nights main event with the B Main drivers coming out first. Kevin Phillips was able to move quickly, coming from a fifth place starting position to make his way up to first, because of some mistakes made by other drivers. He will be one to watch in the future for sure. That left Alejandro Simon and Henry Zelaya to battle it out for second and third. By the time the checkered flag came out, Kevin was hanging onto a comfortable lead, Alejandro would take second and Henry rounded out the top three.

A-Main race action closed out the night and this was a great race for the spectators on hand, with Jason Dresher taking an early lead which eventually turned into a 3-kart lead by mid race. A number of experienced drivers made up the field for this, and the battle for second and third between Rodney Williams who was trailing Charles Abbott was great, as Rodney hung right on Charles back bumper waiting to make his move. Rodney eventually found his way under Charles to take over the second position and the top three would finish their night with Jason up front, Rodney taking second and Charles hanging onto third holding off a full field of drivers to maintain his position.

This was a great night of racing for all and with just a couple of months to go there is a big push to the end of the season and the chase to the championship as drivers are looking for that top spot on the podium. Come out to the K1 Speed South Florida location and check out all the race action for yourself!
