Boris Said to Race Off Road Trucks at X Games
Last year Apdaly Lopez took home the first ever X Games gold medal in Stadium SUPER Trucks. This time there are some young guns and crafty veterans in the line-up which will make for some action-packed racing.
Boris participated in the 2007 X Games 13 in Los Angeles piloting the Subaru Impreza WRX STI rally car with rally legend John Buffum. That year, Tanner Foust took Gold with Ken Block Silver and Travis Pastrana Bronze.
This past April, Joe Gibbs Racing announced Boris’ hiring to race for Kyle Busch and the No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota Camry. He will pilot seven XFINITY Series events with the team. In Talladega he finished 16th but was in the Top 5 for most of the race. This Sunday he will be in Iowa putting in some more hard laps before heading to Austin for X Games.
K1 Speed Austin will also be hosting the 2nd Annual Bucky & Friends Endurance Race benefiting Road 2 Recovery Foundation. The event will take place on Tuesday June 2nd starting at 5pm. X Games top athletes will be in attendance meeting and racing with fans. Bidding for the driver teams will begin at www.road2recovery.com May 22nd.
X Games Athlete Bio:
Co-driver: John Buffum; Car: Subaru STi An at-large invitation to the rally field, Said is probably best known as a NASCAR driver. He has a reputation for being a “road course ringer” — as a classically trained road course racer, full-time NASCAR Nextel Cup teams have called upon Said to compete on the sinuous Sears Point or Watkins Glen race circuits. He has also offered road course training to such racers as Dale Earnhardt Jr., Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards, and Kasey Kahne. He is not a rally driver, but competed in the Race of Champions in 2003, driving an all-wheel drive car similar to that which he will drive at X Games 13. He said his technique was all wrong, but he’ll get the hang of it for this one.
