Hunt for a Spinal Injury Cure with Wings for Life

Let’s get the bad news over with: every year, at least a quarter of a million people sustain a spinal cord injury that results in paralysis and consequently, wheelchair dependency. The good news is that scientists agree that injured neurons are capable of regeneration, which means there can be a cure to spinal cord injuries one fine day. The Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation, founded by Red Bull CEO Dietrich Mateschitz and two-time motocross champ Heinz Kinigadner, is dedicated to finding a cure and has already funded 174 spinal cord research projects worldwide to date, with help from amazing athletes, like 13-time F1 winner David Coulthard. But this funding isn’t cheap, and this is where we’re asking for your help.

On Saturday, November 3rd, K1 Speed and other members of the action sports industry are helping out with the Wings for Life Scavenger Hunt in Orange County, CA.

How Does It Work?

Teams of four, plus one professional athlete per team, will race to some awesome locations, including the headquarters of Fox Racing, Volcom, Oakley, and of course, K1 Speed! Teams are encouraged to include individuals of all abilities – from brains to brawn.

Teams will ride a bus to each location, where they’ll participate in super fun, thrilling, and extraordinary challenges, earning points along the way that’ll win you some amazing prizes and SWAG! There’ll be many different ways to win – from individual and team challenges to biggest fundraisers and best team theme and spirit. The more you raise, the better your SWAG becomes!

At the end of the event, everybody will be taking home a swag big filled with awesome items, will meet some of the most inspirational athletes and ambassadors around, and will take part in an afterparty that’d make any VIP envious.

Looks Like Fun! How Do I Enter?

The non-refundable registration fee is only $75 per individual. In addition, each team of four will need to raise an additional $1,400 by September 1, 2018 in order to guarantee their spot. Every cent of the registration fee and funds raised will go to fund spinal cord research. Teams that raise at least $5,000, $10,000, or $20,000 will earn better SWAG for hitting the respective benchmarks.
