K1 Speed Carlsbad Hosts Travis Pastrana Interview
22 February 2011
Is there anything in motorsports Travis Pastrana can’t do? Motocross Champion at the age of 16, he began his long stint as a multiple X Games FMX gold medal winner, later turning to US Rally Car racing and becoming an X Games Rally Cross competitior, not to mention headlining his TV show Nitro Circus. It’s no surprise that Travis is making the move into NASCAR’s Nationwide series later in the year with the help of two-time Daytona 500 winner Michael Waltrip of Michael Waltrip Racing. Travis has been busy getting as much seat time as possible, including making his debut at the Toyota All-Star Showdown at Irwindale Speedway earlier this year by competing against drivers from the K&N Pro Series.
Pastrana’s 6th place finish in the Showdown has people talking and wondering if he’ll be as successful here as he has been in the other forms of racing that he has become so well known for. In this interview, parts of which were filmed at K1′s Carlsbad facility, Travis talks about his upcoming race season, in-between taking a few laps in our high performance electric racing karts, and what he is looking forward to with the upcoming NASCAR season.
