K1 Speed Donates to San Marcos High School STAR VIP Program

The STAR VIP program at San Marcos High School is designed to promote and develop academic improvement in four primary fields of study – English, Math, History, and the Sciences – by rewarding students who perform well on the annual California State (STAR) examinations. We were recently contacted by San Marcos High School (located in North County San Diego) and asked whether or not we would be interested in making a donation to the VIP program, and we gladly accepted!

At K1 Speed, we are strong proponents of education, but we were really encouraged by the idea of making a donation when we found that the API score of the student body at SMHS has risen over 100 points over the last three years (the school currently has a 773 out of a possible 1,000 points) – a feat which the faculty feels is due in part to their successful VIP program! It was our pleasure to offer several free races and licenses as awards, as well as 2-for-1 races throughout the summer for any SMHS student who visits our Carlsbad location with their student ID card. We wish the entire student body of SMHS – The Knights – the best of luck with their continued education and hope the VIP program once again produces tangible results on the STAR exams!
