K1 Speed San Francisco Brings Racing to the Bay!
06 June 2012
K1 Speed, Inc., the largest indoor karting company in the country, is breaking ground on its newest location in San Francisco.
Irvine, California (June 6, 2012) – With the opening of its newest center scheduled for August 2012 in San Francisco, K1 Speed – the largest indoor karting company in the United States – is introducing the adrenaline-pumping thrills of karting to a whole new audience. Founded in Southern California in 2003, the company is finally set to take over Northern California, with no less than four locations planned for the area, including Santa Clara now open, San Francisco, Pleasanton and Sacramento. Its San Francisco location is built with the community in mind – from zero-emission electric karts to energy efficient lighting, the center is built to have a small environmental impact – and should provide a unique and exciting new place for residents to unwind and have fun.
The K1 Speed Difference – All-electric Karting
K1 Speed redefined what karting is when it was founded almost 10 years ago. With poorly maintained outdoor tracks littering the country, often at amusement parks right alongside miniature golf courses, the sport of go-kart racing had lost its luster in the United States. K1 Speed sought to change that and it took a page out of Europe’s approach to karting to do so. K1 Speed’s tracks are professionally designed and are built indoors, allowing for racing every day of the year in any weather. The tracks are also designed with safety in mind; as opposed to spare tires jutting out of the ground, K1 Speed utilizes TecPro safety barriers. Perhaps the biggest distinguishing feature, however, are K1 Speed’s karts.
Unlike outdoor kart tracks, which have anemic, poorly maintained, gas-powered karts that are loud, noxious, and heavy, K1 Speed utilizes zero-emission, all-electric European karts. Built in the same style of the world championship kart chassis that Formula One drivers learn their trade in, K1 Speed’s karts provide genuine thrills and an authentic racing experience. In fact, they can reach speeds approaching 45mph on the company’s ¼ mile indoor tracks! The machines have superb handling, braking, and response and are about as close as you can get to driving a formula car without having a Super License. For people who have never raced at K1 Speed before, the difference between its karts and the go-karts of old is striking, and must be experienced firsthand to appreciate.
Racing Packages – Public and Private Racing Available
With the exception of private closures, K1 Speed is open to the public 365 days a year. In San Francisco, where rain, wind, and cloud cover are always a possibility, residents can satiate their adrenaline needs without worry of inclement weather. In fact, they don’t even need a reservation or appointment. The company’s Arrive & Drive race program – a 14-lap race against the clock with up to 12 karts on track at a time – is a popular option that is easily affordable and accessible for racers of all skill levels. Individuals can buy one race or a package of three, and can even buy gift cards for friends and family.
If racing with a party of 8 or more people, you may be interested in K1 Speed’s racing packages. With a variety of packages to choose from, including the company’s popular Grand Prix challenge, budget-friendly Mini Grand Prix, and the ultimate Le Mans Endurance event, you’re sure to find a package that suits your needs, whether you’re a novice or veteran racer. These race packages are perfect for birthday parties, bachelor parties, team building exercises, and corporate events, and provide groups with reserved race times and exclusive use of the track during their heats.
Unique Indoor Karting Centers
K1 Speed prides itself on operating world-class entertainment venues, not simply indoor go-kart tracks. Each of the dozen centers currently open or in development feature museum-quality collections of racing memorabilia, artwork, and genuine racecars, as well as spacious lounges that are outfitted with plasma screen televisions, leather couches, club-like lighting, and Pit Café snack bars. Unlike traditional go-kart tracks, where your off-track experience is an afterthought, K1 Speed wants you to have as much fun off of the track as you do on the track. So visit K1 Speed’s newest center, opening in the San Francisco market!
