America’s premier indoor karting company is set to open an outdoor kart track during the 41st Annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

LONG BEACH, Calif. (April 1, 2015) – K1 Speed will again offer all-electric kart racing to race enthusiasts from all walks of life at the April 17-19 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

The 2015 Grand Prix will feature the cars and stars of the Verizon IndyCar Series and TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, as well as the Pro/Celebrity Race, Formula Drift, Pirelli World Challenge Championships, SPEED Energy Off-Road Series and Indy Lights.

Since K1 Speed has existed it has been involved in some capacity with the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. Now after 12 years working together it’s only right for the Grand Prix to play host to K1 Speed’s first-ever outdoor kart track. K1 Speed was founded in Southern California and has played an integral role in introducing the sport of electric karting to the United States.

The temporary outdoor track during Round 3 of the Verizon IndyCar Series will be situated atop the parking garage nestled in between the Long Beach Convention Center and Long Beach Arena off Seaside Way. With world-class racing roaring around the streets of Long Beach, race spectators will be able to hop in K1 Speed’s high-performance, all-electric go-karts for 8-lap heats. Fans can also visit the K1 Speed booth in the Lifestyle Expo where they will have a chance to enter to win prizes, purchase discounted races and pose with show kart and K1 models.

Spectators who are interested in kart racing can visit the track at any time throughout the three-day race weekend. One race will cost $12 and two races $20. Racers must be 4’10” and above. Though Arrive & Drive races at K1 Speed’s more than two dozen indoor centers typically last 14 laps, demand is expected to be high during the race weekend. By shortening the race, K1 Speed aims to make certain that everyone who wants to race can, without having to wait too long.
