E-World Championship Update + INCREASE in Purse!
It’s been six months since we first announced the K1 Speed World Championship, which means we’re halfway into collecting the necessary points required to qualify for the World Championship. We’ll check and see how many have qualified so far, but first, we have important news regarding our prize money.
Win Even More Money!
We’re excited to announce that the prize money awarded at the K1 Speed World Championship event has gone up! The K1 Speed World Champion will now receive $15,000 – that’s an increase of $5,000 over the original amount! Second place will now receive $7,500, an extra $2,500 than previously offered, and third place will earn $3,500 – up from $3,000. This makes the K1 Speed World Championship the largest indoor karting championship in the world with the biggest prize purse! So, let’s see now where you’re all standing.
Current Points Tally at the Halfway Mark
We currently have at least 26 drivers who already possess the minimum of 4,000 K1RS points needed to qualify for the K1NG of Speed event at their center. These drivers are from 13 different locations: San Diego, Santa Clara, Atlanta, Phoenix, Houston, Irvine, Dallas, Anaheim, Denver, Austin, Dublin, Concord, Kapolei, and Sacramento.
Another 30 different drivers are already halfway there with at least 3,000 K1RS points, including drivers from another eight locations: Indianapolis, Carlsbad, Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood, Buffalo Grove, Addison, Arlington, Redmond, and San Francisco – which means about two-thirds of our locations are on track to having a Center Champion on deck.
How to Earn Points
If you have less than 3,000 K1RS points, don’t worry! As you can see, it’s very possible to earn a lot of points in little time:
- Earn two points for each race you enter
- Earn two points for each racer you beat
- Earn two bonus points if you had the fastest lap in your race
- Earn two bonus points if you had the fastest lap average in your race
For more points, you’ve got to be fast! Come during the week and wait for a race with a fuller grid. If you were in a race group of ten people and you finished first, you’d earn two points for the race, 18 points for beating nine racers, two points for fastest lap, and two points for the fastest average lap, for a total of 24 points!

Hello, Zachary! Glad you asked that question! Since the final rounds will be held on an outdoor track with significantly faster karts, we feel the minimum suitable age due to safety reasons is 14 years of age. We apologize for any disappointment this may cause but you’re still number one in our national rankings, which as you know, comes with its own perks and bragging rights!

Hello, Thomas! Yes, just one qualifier from each center. Each K1 Speed center will determine their “Center Champion” which will be determined by an elimination-style race format to be called, “The K1NG of Speed”. You’ll just need 4,000 K1RS points to qualify for this elimination race to determine the center champ. Hope this answers your question, and we’ll see you at the track!

What if your center doesn’t have a person with 4000 points. I just found my location in October and already have 2254 points and think I’m near the top. Not sure in two weeks I can get enough races in.

Unfortunately, we have to be strict about the 4,000 points limit to remain fair to everyone who ensured they got the points before the end of the year. Hi Dylan! It really depends on how many people you’re racing with, and that can vary depending on the day of the week and time of day – so it’s hard to say! The average points per race therefore can be a lot higher on the weekend than if you were to come in earlier in the day during the week.
