26 October 2010
K1 Speed in Carson California was visited by the afternoon talk show host Maury Povich last week, giving our indoor electric race karts a try on our unique concrete course layout.
Maury has had a long distinguished career in television but original started in news radio shortly after graduation in 1962 working for radio station WWDC in Washington D.C. where he did publicity and worked as a reporter. He later became a news reporter and sport-caster for DC television station WTTG-TV and had made his way to working the mid-day talk show called Panorama. From 1977-1983 Maury worked as a new reporter for various stations around the country but eventually made his way back to DC in 1983.
In 1986, Maury moved to New York where he got the opportunity to host A Current Affair, a show that focused on celebrity gossip that was looked apon as informative and entertaining by critics while anchoring newscasts at WNYW in New York. Povich served two consecutive terms as president of the New York Chapter of the National Television Academy. In September 1991, he left A Current Affair to host The Maury Povich Show, which was nationally syndicated and distributed by Paramount Television in partnership with Povich’s production company “MoPo Productions” and in national syndication from 1991 to 1998.
His newest show “Maury” which he now hosts in the afternoons touches on various topics each week for viewers to tune into.
