Things to do during the NASCAR Qualifying Day at Auto Club Speedway
10 February 2009
It’s that time of year again when race enthusiasts dust off their race gear and the high speed qualifying races take place at Auto Club Speedway. Professional racers come from all over the nation to hit the asphalt of the two-mile track.
This year, the NASCAR Qualifying Day will be held on February 20, along with the Stater Bros. 300 and San Bernardino County 200 on February 21 and the Auto Club 500 on February 22.
Last year’s event attracted a number of drivers to K1 Speed Ontario, just one mile down the road from the massive track. Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch from the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series paid a visit to get some fun with many others before the big race, along with Jason White, Chad McCumbee and Erik Darnell from the Craftsman Truck Series. It’s a great possibility that many of this year’s racers will stop in to K1 Speed Ontario for a few indoor racing sessions, so come on by for an opportunity to meet your favorite racers.
The Ontario location is co owned by Boris Said and it offers two distinct tracks. Track 1 offers wide turns ideal for passing racers and Track 2 boasts exciting hairpin turns and extensive straight away runs. The Ontario location also features the longest indoor kart racetrack in the nation when the two tracks combine to create the Super Track on the last Sunday of each month for the Challenge GP.
