In the largest Challenge GP to date, K1 Speed in South Florida hosted 86 drivers Sunday night to kick off their Challenge GP race season for the 2nd half of 2011. The Super-Track configuration which combines both tracks on the concrete surfaced race course, is the first of its kinda in the Ft. Lauderdale area as K1 Speed brings European style indoor kart racing to the region. Thanks to the large number that joined us at K1 Speed in South Florida, giving us the largest attendance ever in the history of K1 Speed for a Challenge GP event, this produced 7 Main events for the evening for spectators on hand with an A, B, C, D, E, F, and G mains.
Jason Drescher was the main man of the night qualifying for the pole position in the A main and going on to take the win over 85 other drivers. He was followed by Matthew Mccabe who took second and Michael Whipple in third to round out the top three. The race for the chase to the overall points championship is in full swing as well with Jason currently in the lead with 162 points. With all drivers just separated out by a couple of points it will be a close race to the finish!
Come out to the next event August 7th and take on the best kart racing facility in the Miami, Boca Raton, and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida area with K1 Speed!
