Miami (Medley)

Dear James and Jeff,

Last Sunday (March 9) I took my 7-year-old son, Dylan, to your facility in Miami, FL (I believe it’s technically called “Medley”). When we arrived at K1, he watched other kids take their laps, was super excited when I purchased his license and races…but the minute it was time for him to get his helmet on and start his race, he was crippled with fear.  He burst into tears.  As a mom, my heart ached knowing that his fear was taking over and he’d lose out on an opportunity to just have fun and be a kid. This was a scenario I’ve witnessed before, and despite my talks of encouragement, I was prepared to leave K1.

Jonathan (JP) from your staff at K1 had been helping Dylan with his helmet (and then taking it off). I let him  know we were going to sit out this race and watch the other kids have their turn.  After the race was finished, JP saw Dylan and started chatting with him about how much fun go karting is, how it’s OK to be scared – tons of other kids get scared , and promised Dylan that if anything went wrong during the race or he got scared mid-race, JP would personally check on him. JP provided the attention and reassurance that Dylan needed.  He was ready to race.

Dylan went slow and finished last in the race. When he took off his helmet, JP offered a high-five and Dylan was grinning from ear to ear declaring how much fun he just had and he wanted to go again (and again and again!).

JP was so kind, patient and encouraging. He’s truly a special person, and you are lucky to have him on your team at K1.

My son has been talking non-stop about K1…proudly displays his “license” and begs me every day to take him back.  Please send my sincere thanks to JP…you have a great team in Miami and we look forward to visiting again!

Best,

Staci Kurnit

Mount Kisco

Hello Cory and Drew,

My son decided he wanted to race go karts and I found K-1 online.

I come from an entirely different background and knew nothing of the sport, how it works, what it takes, etc.

One month ago I signed my son up for the monthly competitive league and have brought him in to practice several times and I have to say the Mount Kisco team is outstanding.

Everyone has been helpful to us and we have gotten nothing but guidance and encouragement, but I want to mention Charles specifically for his leadership. Not only has he walked my son through various steps to improve his lap time and guided him on race etiquette but he is leading a top down culture where everyone is on the same page in terms of respecting and helping the drivers.

I just thought you should know the impression he has made on us. I will absolutely recommend this group to anyone who has an interest in racing.

Best regards,

Eric Miranda
