High-performance sports bikes in the parking lot at K1 Speed Carlsbad
In addition to being a popular spot for car enthusiasts,
K1 Speed is also a hit with motorcycle enthusiasts. In fact, many of our customers bring in their own helmets and our customers who ride tend to get a hang of our karts pretty quickly! On New Year’s Eve, members of the
Gentlemenz Affairz motorcycle club visited our
K1 Speed Carlsbad indoor go kart track in San Diego, California to bring in 2010! The crew proudly sported their club apparel, and there was some healthy competition on track to see who would set the fastest time of the group in our
electric karts!

There is a wide variety of motorcycle clubs these days celebrating an even more diverse range of bikes – from choppers, bobbers, Harley Davidsons, Indians, cruisers, vintage bikes and European marquees, to name but a few – but the members of this San Diego club have a passion for high performance sports bikes. Not content with the factory performance or aesthetics of these machines though, the guys modify their bikes to both personalize them and to increase their performance. From extended swing arms and aftermarket exhaust systems to custom paint jobs, the motorcycles of the Gentlemenz Affairz club are truly unique and have the performance to match their looks!

The 300 theme is even carried over to the rider's helmet!
We would like to thank the club members for visiting our indoor karting center in North County San Diego, and we hope to see them again soon! We always appreciate it when motorsports enthusiasts choose our indoor go kart tracks to satiate their need for adrenaline and speed!

The final race of the Challenge GP season at K1 Speed Carlsbad took place this past weekend and when the last competitor crossed the finish line, a new champion was crowned! The event was fantastic; the racing was close, everyone was in good spirits and there were some surprises on the podium. Long-time racer Kirk Meese pulled out the win over young up-and-coming racer Jordan Robertson, who finished in 2nd place and David Messimer who fought off Paul Ciralli for the final spot on the podium. Regulars John Simms and Jordan’s father Stephan also put up good fights but were unable to earn a trophy this time around.

Despite Paul’s 4th place finish, he was still able to claim the season championship! After finishing 2nd to John Tanaka last season in our Carlsbad Challenge GP kart racing series, Paul was consistent and competitive all season long, and his efforts paid off with a championship finish. The Top 3 finishers for the season were Paul Ciralli in 1st place, Jordan Robertson in 2nd (who impressed everyone this season with his continuous improvement and competitiveness) and Kirk Meese finishing in 3rd place overall. Our winners received gift bags and prizes from Meguiar’s Car Care and K&N Filters, whom we would like to thank for their support. It was a pleasure hosting our Jul-Dec 2009 Challenge GP season and we greatly look forward to the 2010 series!

Children from the Hope Community Center Orphanage visit our K1 Speed Carlsbad indoor karting center!
We had the pleasure of hosting a small group of children from the
Hope Community Center Orphanage at our
K1 Speed Carlsbad indoor karting center in San Diego, California today and judging from the smiles on their faces, the children enjoyed it! The Hope Community Center Orphanage is a non-profit charity that aims to provide a better life for Kenyan children who have lost their parents to disease or poverty, and currently there are 320 children in the organization. In the spirit of the season, we were more than happy to provide a small group visiting California with an opportunity to experience the thrill and excitement of go kart racing!

Rock group 'Story of the Year' visits K1 Speed Carlsbad
The St. Louis, Missouri rock group Story of the Year didn’t let the cold and rainy weather dampen their spirits today; instead, they took advantage of our indoor go kart track for an afternoon of fun and exciting (and dry!) karting action! The group visited our
K1 Speed Carlsbad indoor karting center in San Diego (the group played at the Roxy in Los Angeles just a couple of night ago and were in Southern California on tour) and from the looks of it, Dan Marsala, Ryan Phillips, Philip Sneed, Adam Russell, and Josh Wills had a great time! We would like to thank Story of the Year for taking the time to drop by K1 Speed, and we hope to see them again soon!

Ken Block -- DC Shoes Co-Founder, X-Games Medalist and Subaru Rally Team USA Driver
Ken Block – co-founder of DC Shoes and current Subaru Rally America driver – paid a visit to our
K1 Speed Carlsbad indoor kart racing center in San Diego this past weekend for some electric karting action! It is always a pleasure having Ken stop by as he’s a great guy who always seems to enjoy himself. Ken is no stranger to K1 Speed; during the X Games XIII festivities in Los Angeles, we were pleased to have
Ken Block, Travis Pastrana and Colin McRae visit K1 Speed Irvine for a Subaru Rally Team USA “Survival of the Fittest” competition! This weekend, the
Nitro Circus star was unable to attend, but Ken brought along his daughter and some close friends, and they had a great time.

Pro rally driver Ken Block visits K1 Speed Carlsbad with family and friends!
It’s an honor that Ken Block chooses K1 Speed as his source for fun when not racing with the Subaru rally team or making driving videos that become internet sensations, and we wish him the best of luck in 2010 and hope to see him again soon!

A Porsche 911 GT3 parked outside of our K1 Speed Carlsbad indoor kart racing center in North County San Diego
We are fortunate to see a wide variety of nice cars at
K1 Speed, as many of our customers are automotive enthusiasts, off-road enthusiasts, motorcyclists and racing fans. It occurred to us that our readers might appreciate these cars, trucks and motorcycles as well, and thus our
Carspotting features were born! Last night, this incredible Porsche 911 GT3 (the latest 997 model) paid a visit to our
K1 Speed Carlsbad indoor karting center in San Diego, California. Unfortunately the sun was going down just as the customer arrived, which meant we didn’t have many opportunities to get a photograph, but that didn’t deter us from taking a closer look at this beautiful car!
With a 3.6 liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine producing 415hp, massive disc brakes and an advanced suspension tuned for the track, the 997 GT3 is a tremendous performance car that is respected the world over. This particular GT3 though had a host of accessories that made it even more at home on the racetrack, including a roll cage, an aftermarket adjustable suspension, and a free-flowing exhaust system which gave the car a devilish high-pitched wail! The owner was happy enough to start the car for us and rev up the engine, and we can tell you that it sounded incredible! We would like to thank the owner for taking the time to talk to us, and we were pleased to hear that when he isn’t racing at Willow Springs or Buttonwillow in his GT3, he satiates his need for adrenaline at K1 Speed!

An R35 Nissan GT-R at our K1 Speed Carlsbad indoor karting center
This stunning R35 Nissan GT-R was spotted outside of our
K1 Speed Carlsbad indoor karting center in San Diego, California today. In fact, the owner was one of the first customers of the morning and was ready to go racing almost as soon as we opened our doors! With a twin turbo V6 engine, AWD powertrain and massive Brembo brakes, the new Nissan GT-R is a tremendous performance car that has proven its mettle on the infamous Nurburgring Nordschleife (North Loop), and is quite capable of taking on some of the best cars in the world. The owner of this particular GT-R though opted not to go to Germany for his adrenaline fix, but to K1 Speed!

At K1 Speed, we strive to provide our customers with an authentic racing experience and genuine wheel-to-wheel thrills, so it always pleases us when we have automotive enthusiasts stop by to try out our high performance electric go karts on our professionally designed indoor go kart tracks. Anytime that we see high-end hardware in our parking lot, we like to think of it as a validation of what we do here at K1 Speed, and we take great pride in that! Stay tuned for more Carspotting!

The November round of our Challenge GP kart racing series at K1 Speed Carlsbad brought out some very strong competitors, including Paul Ciralli, Khalifa Alasiri and Kirk Meese. The father-son team of Stephen and Jordan Robertson was all too happy to disrupt the plans of these seasoned competitors though, as Jordan Robertson performed extremely well in both the qualifying round and position race; hovering on the tail of Paul Ciralli, Jordan was able to place pressure and fight for the win all race long! Though Jordan was unable to make a pass for first position, he finished just .22 seconds behind Paul for a 2nd place finish and was able to stay ahead of Khalifa Alasiri, who wound up taking the final spot on the podium in 3rd. It was an impressive performance by all accounts, and we expect to see Jordan continuously improve as he gains more experience.

We would like to thank everyone who came out and competed in Round 5 of our Challenge GP series as well as offer our thanks for their continued support. If you would like to participate in our Challenge GP go kart league, we will be announcing our new schedule for the Jan-Jun 2010 season soon. If you would like to see some of the best indoor karters in Southern California battle it out in person, feel free to join us at our indoor karting center in San Diego, California on December 20th for the final round of the year! We hope to see you there!

The video production department at Valley Middle School in Carlsbad, California recently came into our indoor karting facility in North County San Diego to shoot the feature story for their November broadcast. During their visit to K1 Speed Carlsbad, the students interviewed manager Ryan King as well as professional skateboarder Rune Glifberg, who had dropped in with friends to experience the thrill of indoor go kart racing. It was a pleasure having the students from VMSTV at K1 Speed, and we couldn’t be happier with how the feature came out!
