Recap: ProKart West Challenge // Round 2
We had a great turnout for the second round of the ProKart West Challenge in Ontario. 16 drivers took to the track to post their fastest lap times in two qualifying sessions on Track 1. Qualifying went smooth, with Kc Cook pulling off the best time with 25.078 seconds. We changed things up before the final and since we were running Supertrack for the main race, we allowed all 16 drivers to advance to the final for a dash for cash.
Kc Cook started the race off with Charles Eichlin right on his bumper, ready to battle it off again as they did in Irvine during round 1 when Kc pulled off the victory. Kc was able to post some great laps right from the start that allowed him to gain some gap over second place Charles. They both were setting blistering laps, with Kc destroying the track record on his second lap with 48.274 seconds, that was a half second faster than the current track record. But that didn’t stop Charles from posting a great lap with a 48.692, which was below the track record as well. Kc continued to beat Charles by a tenth or two a lap and comfortably had a lead with two laps to go. The battle was on behind them though with Eric Rossoni and Robert Hernandez fighting to get the last spot on the podium for the money. Eric held his line perfectly throughout the closing laps and never gave Robert a chance to get along side of him.
“Sometimes when your goals don’t seem reachable at the end where it all counts; the mystery of having faith, trusting in yourself and believing, pushes you to limits you didn’t know you had, where you than see yourself fulfill the very thing you desired that seemed impossible to reach. If you’ve given up, than you have already failed, but if you try and never give up, than you will eventually succeed.” – Eric Rossoni
The race turned out to be very exciting throughout, with great battles all the way through the field, but Kc Cook was able to show his dominance and pick up another win in the ProKart West Challenge in Ontario and earn himself a nice $250! Charles Eichlin came home second 2.421 seconds behind KC and collected a $100 pay day. Eric Rossoni held off Robert Hernandez to land himself a nice $50. Not only did all three podium finishers collect money, but they also received grab bags full of stuff, which turned out to be over $1000 in sponsor swag. We look forward to bringing this to all the centers nationwide in 2015!
