Anaheim’s Fastest Family
The Ramirez family will represent Anaheim at the 2026 California State Championship in all three Challenge GP divisions. The 2026 California State Championship will be held at K1 Speed Irvine on Jan 31st and Feb 1st.
Daniel Ramirez — First Place — Teen Division
Daniel will take on the best of K1’s California Teen Challenge GP field, thanks to his first-place finish over Dylan Nino in second and Noah Concepcion in third (all three competitors advance to the state level). This is not the first time Daniel has battled for the California title — having reached the B-Main last year, his sights are now set on breaking into the A-Main grid and climbing onto the state podium.
Daniel was introduced to racing seven years ago with his first visit to K1 Speed. Since then, Daniel has advanced into the upper levels of competitive karting, often racing at the outdoor K1 Circuit Winchester facility. When the Ramirez family was asked who was the fastest among the trio, both David and Nikolas were quick to point out Daniel, recognizing his recent experience behind the wheel of a KA100 kart in various race series across Southern California. In fact, he will be competing in the Champions of the Future America series, mainly held at K1 Circuit Winchester.
Nikolas Ramirez — First Place — Junior Division
At just 10 years old, Nikolas is already a multi-year veteran of the Anaheim Junior Challenge GP league. Nikolas finished the 2023 season in third, tied for second in 2024, and now finds himself atop the podium in 2025. He will be accompanied at the California State Championship by fellow Anaheim juniors Jaden Bunton and Connor Montgomery, who finished the season in second and third, respectively. Admirably, Nikolas approaches racing with positivity and a love for the sport. When asked about his goal in racing, Nikolas said, “I just want to have fun and be part of the racing spirit of our family.” Sporting a teal and green helmet, Nikolas stands out as one to watch for the upcoming state championship.
David Ramirez — Second Place — Adult Division
David is a long-time K1 racer, with roots dating back to 2008. He will be joined at states by Anaheim champion Josh Ferrer and third-place finisher Raul Reyes. Outside of go-kart racing, David has experience driving Miatas in the National Auto Sport Association (NASA). He has competed on a multitude of Southern California tracks as well as Sonoma Raceway. Now, his sights are set on providing Daniel and Nikolas with the skills they need to win races. We are thrilled that David chose K1 Speed to give Daniel and Nikolas their first taste of the track and the world of motorsports. David also enjoys helping his friends learn racing technique and appreciates seeing them improve lap times with his advice.
You know what they say: a family that races together, stays together.
Next Up: 2026 California State Championship
The California State Championship brings together the top junior, teen, and adult racers from all 15 California locations. As K1 Speed’s largest state championship, the podium finishers typically fare well in the U.S. national pool — as evidenced last year by Clovis junior racer Miles Boertje, who won the California state title and went on to place second at the U.S. and E-World Championship levels.
