2023 Drive Electric Week: Get a Discount with your EV!

national drive electric week graphic with go kart and text

K1 Speed is your place to race electric during National Drive Electric Week! Being the pioneer of all-electric, emission-free indoor go kart racing in the United States, we knew we had to be a part of this national celebration. So if you own or drive an all-electric vehicle (EV), or know someone who does, you’re not going to want to miss this special Drive Electric Week deal exclusively for you!

Our 2023 Drive Electric Week Offer!

When you drive an all-electric vehicle (EV) to K1 Speed* from Friday, September 22nd to Sunday, October 1st, 2023 you can enjoy a single Arrive & Drive race for just $19*! That’s around 20% off at most of our locations!

If you have never tried our electric go karts, you’re in for a treat. Like your electric vehicle, our karts have instant torque (power). This means you can speed through the tight, twisty turns of our track faster than you would a gas-powered kart. Plus, there’s no noxious exhaust fumes and no lawnmower-sounding exhaust note. And people love the sound of our karts – they sound just like futuristic Formula E race cars!

Here’s some more reasons why electric go karts are better than gas-powered go karts.

How To Redeem This Offer:

To redeem this deal, all you have to do is show us your vehicle registration or proof of insurance that proves you drive one of the qualified vehicles (see approved list below).

Carpool to K1 Speed and Pass on the Savings!

One of the things we love about Drive Electric Week is the environmental awareness component. And since carpooling also helps our environment, we’re encouraging you to bring your friends in your EV! So not only the owner/driver of the vehicle can enjoy a $19 race, but up to three of your passengers can receive this same deal when they visit with you!

If I have a Chevy Bolt, and a Fiat 500e, do I get an extra discount? Can I take my Fiat 500e on the track, I think it will fit? 🙂

    • Staff Writer

Hey Ivan. Sadly, you don’t get an extra discount..but you do get our respect! Regarding the Fiat on the track, it wasn’t electric, but we’ve been there, done that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D96k8DuMZkY.

  • Rennie Allen

My car is a 100% electric vehicle, it isn’t on the list, it is a Toyota Mirai.

    • Staff Writer

Hey Rennie! While the Mirai is close to being 100% electric, it is hydrogen powered as well, making it a hybrid. We need all electric, I’m afraid!

  • Justin Medina

I don’t own one but you should include the Zero Electric Motorcycles, as well as any other brand name electric motorcycle like harley’s new Livewire

    • Staff Writer

Justin, you’re absolutely right. We’ll add them to the list – thanks!

  • Robert Grusin

    Why no Teslas?

    • Staff Writer

Robert, look between the Smart ForTwo and Toyota Rav4.

  • James Worden

What an awesome event! We have always really liked K1 and this Drive Electric week program is a reason to like it even more!
P.S.: Please add three pure EVs to the list that are not currently on the list:
    Solectria Force (4-seat sedan)
    Solectria Sunrise (4-seat sedan)
    Solectria E-10 pickup truck (2-seat)
    Thanks, James Worden

    • Staff Writer

Oh, man.. we’re totally adding Solectria to the list. Do you actually have one, James??
EDIT: Aaaaand….I just discovered you co-founded the company. AMAZING!

  • Frank Zwirba

I have an All electric Scooter.. A regular 2 wheeled 14 inch tires Electric Scooter. Its a mini Motorcycle. I can throw it in the back of my pick up. Unfortunately your 3+ hours away from y’all. Probably 6 hours or more if i rode that there. lol. I’ll admit. This is my 1st time hearing of electric Go karts. I love that take off Torque. When i was a kid growing up in Brooklyn N.Y. In Coney Island we had an indoor Gas Karts we’d go to all the time. You just educated & Shocked me on your info about indoor gas karts. I’m starting to wonder if thats why i turned out the way i am? lol. Probably had a few brain cells lost due to the Gas/Exhaust fumes. I’ll be looking forward to taking a Day Trip soon to come down and meet you all. Of course also to Ride your really cool Karts. I’m glad i came across your ad on the website i was on. I’ve really enjoyed reading all the info and reviews.

  • Craig J Russell

I have a Toyota Prius and i don’t see it on your list? Does that qualify? Also have a Stacyc and eMtb, do they qualify?

    • Staff Writer

Hey Craig! Sorry, since the Prius is a hybrid, it’s not all-electric and therefore doesn’t qualify. In regards to your Stacyc and eMtb, we’re looking for more electric cars/trucks/motorcycles rather than e-bicycles.Thanks for checking with us, though!

  • Astrid

Hi K1 team, I want to bike to the location with my friends. It’s even greener than driving electric. Would that count?

    • Staff Writer

Hey Astrid! We agree, that’s great for our planet! However, we are looking for all-electric vehicles for this particular promo. You can still bike over to our place, though! 😉

  • Gerardo Hurtado

Prius prime is missing from the list! It has a 25mile autonomy on full ev mode

    • Staff Writer

Hello Gerardo! While the Prius does have an EV mode, it’s still a hybrid vehicle and not a true EV. Sorry about that!

  • SilentP

    Re: the Mirai,

It is electric, it just stores the electric charge via a fuel cell primarily rather than a battery. There is no combustion going on. It should count since you didn’t specify battery electric vehicle.

    • Staff Writer

Hey SilentP! Technically, the Mirai is classified as a FCV. We’re going for any vehicle that’s classified as an EV. Sorry for the inconvenience!

  • Brian D

Ford Fusion Energi is all electric, but like the BMW I3 has a range extending gas motor.
95% of my driving around town is on electric only.

    • Staff Writer

Hey Brian! Because the Energi includes the gas-powered motor as standard it’s considered a hybrid. The BMW i3 is on the list since the motor is an optional add-on – as a standard vehicle, it’s a pure EV. Hope this clears up the confusion.

  • Patrick Finnegan

Chevy made a Spark EV from 2014-2016 in Cali and Oregon to meet compliance with zero emission standard in those states, and I still see them around up here in Washington!

    • Staff Writer

Thanks, Patrick! We’ll add that to the list.

  • Niki Lauda

Do we just have to bring the vehicle registration? Not the vehicle itself?

    • Staff Writer

      Niki Lauda?! You’re back??

Ideally we’d like to see you bring your electric vehicle to the center, thus promoting Earth Day and therefore not producing any emissions to get to our track.

Now if you really are Niki Lauda, please return to Mercedes F1.. they need a little help this year.

  • Jack Wygal

Please add Rivian R1T to the list as the world’s first all electric American made production truck.

    • Staff Writer

No need to add – it’s already on there, Jack! Check under Porsche Taycan and above the Smart ForTwo EQ.

  • Gabriel Aguilar

You forgot the lotus evija… although if anyone actually pulls up in one is a different story

    • Staff Writer

Haha, very true, Gabriel..we’ll put it on there just in case one actually shows up.

  • John Grady

    I have a 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner 440 6BBL. Does that qualify?

    • Staff Writer

Doesn’t qualify for this promotion, John, but qualifies for a complement – cool ride!

  • Zac P

The offer mentions a 1 race deal. Can we add this deal when wanting a 2 or 3 race package for that particular day?

    • Staff Writer

Yes, you can purchase one race at this promotional price, then purchase an additional race package if you desire.

  • John Woods

Hi, I drive a hybrid EV Ford Fusion i know you guys said All electric but could I be an exception? ?

    • Staff Writer

Hi John! Sorry, we are looking for all-electric vehicles only for this one.

  • Matt Campbell

I come in my electric wheelchair does that count?

    • Staff Writer

If you ride in one of our listed EV’s on the way, Mike!

  • Amy Mayfield

What about a Volvo C40 BEV? I didn’t see that on the list.

    • Staff Writer

Thanks for the tip, Amy! It’s on there now.

  • Benjamin Ramirez

I have a Traxxas 4×4 slash 3s Brushless which is an all electric vehicle and will gap every car on that list including the k1 carts. Let’s run it.

  • Darris Mishler

    Hi,
Could you add the Ford Ranger Electric? It was a pure EV from 1998 to 2002.
    Thanks!

    • Staff Writer

Wow, that completely missed our radar – just added it to the list. Thanks for the heads up, Darris! Pretty cool you have one of those.

  • Nikki Goodson

Oh bummer! I was about to email and say that I LOVE THIS IDEA but that I wish you would include the Chevy Volt. However, I see that the same idea (on similar different cars) has already been suggested. Technically it’s a hybrid, but the gas engine is only a range extender. As long as I never deplete the battery (which I don’t do if I’m just driving around town) then it is 100% electric! I only use the gas engine when going on longer road trips. I think it’s brilliant, and I didn’t realize that there are newer cars that have done the same thing! Cool to learn!

    • Staff Writer

Hi, Nikki! Sorry about that, but we’ve got to stick with our EV requirement. We do agree though – that technology is amazing and it’s still great! Thanks for your comment!

  • Earl Adrianse

What about jeep 4xe? It has full ev mode.

    • Staff Writer

Hi, Earl! Sorry, but the Jeep 4Xe is a hybrid vehicle, not an EV.

  • Mariyah Gray

    Hybrids do have electric motors.

    • Staff Writer

That they do, Mariyah. Buuuut, they also have a gas engine as well. For this promotion, we’re looking for vehicles that ONLY have electric power.

  • Sam Arutyunov

    What about a rimac nevara?????

    • Staff Writer

Alright, Sam, we’re adding the Nevera – but you have to bring it by Irvine and show the marketing department.

  • Forrest Albright

I just bought a very expensive electric, Italian made sport bike. 2023 Energica EsseEsse9+ RS. It is 100 percent electric. Can range over 200 miles on a charge city miles. 0-60 in 2.8 seconds. It’s legit. Should be on your list. All the energica bikes. The Ego, Eva, esseesse9, ss9+,ss9+RS, rebelle… I also own a 2018 Zero DSR, a 2017 Alta Redshift MXR, 3 2023 AdmitJet Armors 25000w max output mid-drive 3000w continuous output, chain driven with a clutch and 4 gears. dual sport/ enduro motorcycles. A 2023 MotoTec Venom 72v 12000w 60Ah enduro style dirtbike. All bigger and more like a regular dirtbike than a surron or tilaria. An eAhora M1PS Plating 4000w chopper, a eAhora M1 2seater 2000w chopper. A 6000w scooter that goes 55 miles an hour. That’s scary. A couple of other cool electric scooters and an e scooter trike that will pull 1k lbs. All modes of Zero emissions transportation. Shouldn’t they all qualify? At least the registered ones? Which is all but the scooters.

    • Staff Writer

Sorry, Forrest. We were looking for EVs rather than E-Bikes. Thanks for your interest, though!
