For the first time in United States history, a car race will take place on the streets of Washington, D.C.!

The Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington, D.C., on Sunday, August 23, celebrates our country’s semiquincentennial birthday with all the speed and thrills that the IndyCar Series is known for, against a backdrop of America’s most iconic landmarks, including the Washington Monument and the U.S. Capitol Building, in addition to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, the National Gallery of Art, and the National Archives.

The 1.7-mile street circuit will present a unique challenge to IndyCar’s best drivers, such as four-time champion Alex Palou, six-time champion Scott Dixon, and two-time champion Will Power.

See U.S. Presidents Racing K1 Speed Go-Karts!

As part of the festivities, the Washington Nationals’ Racing Presidents mascots will swap the warning track of a baseball diamond for the racetrack in all-electric go-karts provided by K1 Speed!

The beloved mascots, which feature giant caricature heads of George Washington (George), Abraham Lincoln (Abe), Thomas Jefferson (Tom), and Theodore Roosevelt (Teddy), are known for their footraces during the middle of the fourth inning of every home game. But never have they raced in go-karts, so we’ll see which one of them can cross the finish line first in our karts!

To catch the action, make sure you watch the Nationals’ ball game on FOX Sports at 1:10 pm ET on August 22nd, or during the pre-race coverage on FOX at 11:30 am ET on August 23rd.

Tune into FOX on Sunday, August 23, by 1:00 pm ET to catch the beginning of the Freedom 250 Grand Prix. But again, try to catch the pre-race coverage (at 11:30 am ET), so you don’t miss the Racing Presidents!
