The Racing Season is (Finally) Back!

The year 2020 hasn’t been kind to motor racing fans. Just when many racing series were starting or about to start their new season, everything stopped. But now we’re finally going racing again and we couldn’t be happier. The roar of NASCAR has returned. IndyCars are shrieking around the track again. And the belated start of Formula 1’s 2020 season is just weeks away. So what better time to start racing competitively again at K1 Speed??

That’s why we’re happy to announce that our Junior League, Teen Cup, and GoPro Challenge GP leagues are resuming this July!

Racing Format

Junior League Resumes for Kids

Our Junior League is for kids who are between 48” and 58” inches tall and are looking for a competitive racing series without the enormous cost.

Junior League will resume on Tuesday, July 7. Registration begins at 5:30pm and racing begins promptly at 6:00pm. With only 2 rounds in the books, the championship at your local track is still up for grabs, even if your child hasn’t competed before. So make sure you mark calendar and get your kid behind the wheel for this exciting series!

Teen Cup Comes Back for Teenagers

Our Teen Cup is the perfect way for teenagers to get into racing without forking over thousands of dollars in autocross or outdoor karting expenses. Just pay the registration, and everything’s covered for you. This series is intended for teenagers who are 4’10” or taller and under the age of 18.

Though this event is held on the same night and times as our Junior League, they are SEPARATE events and races. They’re not racing with the kids! They’ll be racing our adult karts at full power just like our adult GoPro Challenge GP series.

The next round will be on Tuesday, July 7. Registration starts at 5:30pm and racing commences at 6:00pm.

Challenge GP League Resumes for Adults

For adults looking to get into the sport of motor racing, our Challenge GP is a great opportunity. Like our Junior League and Teen Cup, the Challenge GP lets individuals race competitively at an affordable price. Open to racers 18 years or older and at least 4’10”, this series is the pinnacle of our racing leagues.

Return to Racing this July!

So there you have it! We’re so excited to resume our leagues again like the rest of the industry. We hope we’ll see all of you return for high-thrills racing in our leagues this July!

Is this for all locations or just the ones that are currently open?

  • Andrew Balfour

can junior kids still do the gopro challenge?

    • Staff Writer

Hey Andrew, the GoPro Challenge GP is for racers 18 years of age and older. However, as stated in this article, we do offer our Junior League race series for kids. Hope we’ll see you there!

  • Steve Marlovitz

So is it true that trophies are not going to be given to the TOP 3 competitors for the 2020 GoPro Challenge GP league? We were told at the Buffalo Grove location at the last race of the season that they may not be given out for this year? Just wondering as that is what we race all season for.

    • K1 Speed Staff Writer

Sorry you were told that. The trophies will be handed out to the podium finishers for the season. They have not been delivered yet due to supply chain delays because of covid. Once we receive them they will be shipped to the centers.
