World-Class Entertainment in Des Moines Metro
Located in Grimes, just northwest of downtown Des Moines, K1 Speed Des Moines delivers authentic, high-speed indoor electric kart racing to drivers across Polk and Dallas counties. Situated off Highway 141 on SE Gateway Drive, our center is an easy drive for racers coming from West Des Moines, Ankeny, Urbandale, Johnston, Waukee, and Clive. The facility has a maximum capacity of 200 people, and on-site, free parking is available with over 50 spots.
Track Layout
This track design favors blistering speed over technical braking, with mainly sweeping turns and plenty of straightaway sections. The circuit features 12 turns and straights on the start/finish line, between Turns 2 and 3, between Turns 4 and 5, and between Turns 11 and 12. Late braking into any of these corners presents overtaking chances in competitive racing formats like our Challenge GP racing leagues.
Trackside Dining with a View in Grimes
The Paddock Lounge is the social hub of K1 Speed Des Moines. Grab a hearty burger, share a pizza, or choose from a selection of appetizers perfect for your group. For guests 21 and over who have finished racing, we have a curated selection of beer and wine to help make a toast to victory.
Settle the Score in the Arcade
The arcade inside K1 Speed Des Moines has 20 games for guests to enjoy, including games like Pac-Man, Air Hockey, Down the Clown, Space Invaders, and many more! Can you set a personal best on the track AND a high score on your favorite game?
Electric Racing, Electric Times
Our indoor go-kart racing center in Grimes serves racers from Des Moines and communities throughout Central Iowa, allowing driving enthusiasts to race regardless of harsh Iowa winter snow and rain. Year-round indoor racing awaits! Our electric, zero-emission karts outperform their gas-powered counterparts while being better for the environment and arguably easier to drive. With our karts, you don’t have to worry about stalling the engine or dropping out of the power band in a tight corner. Our electric motors produce maximum torque at all speeds!
