Get ready for a radically different K1 Speed San Diego from Thursday, July 24th, until Sunday, July 27th, because Sonic the Hedgehog™ is here and he’s taken over the entire facility! In fact, Sonic the Hedgehog™ himself will be in attendance for fans to meet! 

That’s right, K1 Speed San Diego has been transformed into a Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds-themed experience that’s packed with fun activities and exclusive surprises for guests to enjoy!

An Immersive Sonic Racing Experience!

First, our track has been designed to feel like you’re actually racing in the upcoming Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds video game! As you race a lap at K1 Speed San Diego, you’ll visit exciting lands based on the tracks included in the game. These lands include Dinosaur Jungle, Kraken Bay, and Sky World! 

Plus, our karts and helmets are wrapped as Sonic and Shadow for maximum immersion!

A Unique Podium!

Make sure you capture the moment at our special Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Podium and take some photos to immortalize your visit!

Play Arcade Games from SEGA’s Vault!

Of course, this arcade experience has to include an arcade itself, and boy, do we have a great one for you to enjoy. SEGA has been kind enough to loan us many legendary arcade classics from their past. The arcade games include Zaxxon from 1982, Shinobi from 1987, Golden Axe from 1989, and, naturally, 2005’s OutRun 2 SP! And here’s the best part – they’re all FREE for you to enjoy!

Eat Like Sonic at the Paddock Lounge!

You’ll work up an appetite after a full day of racing and gaming, so make sure you visit our Paddock Lounge to try our exclusive Sonic-themed menu! We’re serving up delicious food offerings such as Sonic’s Golden Rings, Shadow’s Ultimate Sliders, and Tail’s Legendary Wings. These items can ONLY be found at K1 Speed San Diego during this special event, so don’t miss your chance!

Where is K1 Speed San Diego??

K1 Speed San Diego is located in Downtown San Diego near the 5 Freeway and Coronado Bridge, and very close to the Gaslamp District. See the map below to see exactly where we are and to get directions!

Do I Need a Reservation to Visit?

As usual, reservations are not required to race at K1 Speed San Diego! Everything will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

How Much Does it Cost to Race?

The cost to race at K1 Speed during our Sonic the Hedgehog™ takeover is the same price as usual!

PLEASE NOTE: since this is a special event, any pre-existing races on your account cannot be used from Thursday, July 24th, through Sunday, July 27th at K1 Speed San Diego.

Are There Any Height or Age Restrictions?

There are no height or age restrictions to enjoy our off-track experiences, such as the arcade. However, there are height restrictions for the go-kart racing attraction. Our junior karts require a minimum height of 48″ (4′) while our adult karts require a minimum height of at least 4’10’ (58″). We do not allow mixed Adult and Junior races.

IMPORTANT: Meeting the height requirement is not a guarantee you’ll be able to race our karts. Drivers will be measured at the location and must be able to safely operate all elements of the kart. Final approval will be at management’s discretion.
