Test Your Skills During the Canton Exhibition of Speed!

canton exhibition of speed graphic featuring logo and date of september 6

THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT.

K1 Speed Canton’s Exhibition of Speed

Our K1 Speed location in Canton, Ohio is known for trying out a bunch of cool new things – Endurance Races and Boost League, for example – in addition to traditional K1 Speed classics like Challenge GP. Last year, they’re introduced another fun new event – the Exhibition of Speed!

And due to popular demand, it’s back for 2024 – with a twist: the Exhibition of Speed will have boost enabled all night long for each session (see more below about how it’ll be used).

Canton’s Exhibition of Speed pulls from all the fun events they host and provides racers with a little sampler of each. This means if you’ve ever considered Challenge GP, Boost League or racing more than 12 laps but haven’t wanted to commit to it yet, this may be the perfect event for you to try it all out. Plus, you’ll have the chance to run the track backwards. Sounds interesting, right?

Well, keep reading to learn more about this special one-night-only event at K1 Speed Canton in Ohio on Friday, September 6th!

What is Canton’s Exhibition of Speed?

Canton’s Exhibition of Speed is a fun Friday night competition/showcase that’ll test the following skill sets from each driver:

  • Consistency
  • Adaptability
  • Endurance

Boost Mode Enabled All Night Long!

In its first event, the Canton Exhibition of Speed featured a solitary boost race. But this year, you’ll have boost for all events! Here are some notes about how boost will be used this year:

  • You get 15 boosts each session
  • Each boost lasts for 3 seconds and provides a 15% increase in acceleration
  • Hold the boost button down for continuous boost!

Event #1: Consistency

Event #1 is modeled similarly to our Challenge GP format and will test each driver’s consistency around the Canton track that will be run in the standard direction with a Joker lane (a shortcut) that can be used three times during your race.

QUALIFYING

There will be three qualifying groups that’ll each get 8 laps to set the fastest lap time they can.

Points awarded: 30 points for 1st, 1 point less for each following place (pole position in B-Main receives 15 points).

RACE

We’ll then grid everyone up on track – the top 50% will grid up in order of time for the A-Main Race, and the next 50% fastest will grid up in order of their time for the B-Main Race. You’ll then compete in a 12-lap race for position that’ll include 3 joker laps. The joker lap is the indoor portion only of our indoor/outdoor track – this means you’ll have a faster time for this lap but since you’re only allowed 3 of these laps, it’s best to use them strategically.

Note: joker laps cannot be run on either the first lap or the last lap.

Points awarded: 30 points for 1st, 1 point less for each following place down to the final position of B-Main (B-Main winner receives 15 points).

Event #2: Adaptability

For Event #2, we’re running the track BACKWARDS! Though it’s the same track, you’ll be surprised how much this changes the experience for you. The driver that is able to adapt the best to this change will emerge on top.

Qualifier #1

Reverse 8 laps

30 pts 1st (A-Main)

1 point less for each following place (B-Main pole is 15 pts).

QUALIFYING

Once again, each group will have one 8-lap qualifying session, only this time you’ll be driving the track in the opposite direction.

Points Awarded: 30 points for pole position in A-Main, 1 point less for each following place down to a single point for the final qualifying position in B-Main. This means B-Main’s pole gets 15 points.

RACE

Yet again, you’ll grid up by lap time with the fastest half going to A-Main and the second-fastest group in the B-Main. Only this time, you’ll race 8 laps in the reverse direction without a Joker lane.

Points awarded: 30 points for A-Main 1st, 1 point less for each following place to the last position in the B-Main (B-Main winner receives 15 points), plus 2 points to the driver who gets the fastest lap from each race.

Event #3: Endurance

Finally, for the last event, we’ll run an extended race of 20 laps. By the time you get this to this final race, you’ll already have raced 36 laps around the track, so this race will push you physically. Let’s see how you can handle ENDURANCE.

Starting grid sorted by points standings – top 15 to A main, bottom 15 to B main

B-Main Race

20 Laps, Competition yellow at 10 Laps

30 pts 1st (A-Main)

1 point less for each following place (winner of B-Main scores 15 pts)

+2 points for fastest lap from each race

A-Main Race

QUALIFYING

Unlike the prior two events, qualifying for Event #3 will be dictated by your current points standings up to this point. The top 15 drivers will compete in A-Main and the next 15 drivers will compete in B-Main.

RACE

Each race for this event is comprised of 20 laps, however a competition yellow will be thrown at the halfway point on lap 10. This means the track will become full-course yellow to bunch the field back up for the second half of the race.

Points awarded: 30 points for the winner of the A-Main race, 1 point less for each following place, with the winner of B-Main receiving 15 points. Plus 2 points for the driver who gets the fastest lap from each race.

At the end of the event, the driver with the most points from the A-Main race will walk away as the champion of K1 Speed Canton’s Exhibition of Speed!

What Are the Prizes for Winning?

If you score enough points from Event #1 and Event #2 to be in the Event #3 A-Main Race, you’ll compete for the following prizes:
